A guided tour of Rome’s Jewish Museum and Great Synagogue
The Rome Jewish Museum is dedicated to the history of Jewish people in Rome (especially the Ghetto period from 1555 to 1870) and displays a great collection of art largely donated by the community.
The museum’s seven ornate rooms display liturgical and ceremonial textiles, illuminated parchments, and pieces of marble and silverwork, and includes a section dedicated to the Nazi occupation of Rome and tombstones originally found in the catacombs beneath the city.
You’ll also be guided through the Great Synagogue of Rome, erected in 1904.
