I have visited Zanzibar before and stayed at a few hotels (large and small) and this is by far my favorite hotel, my kids and I did not want to leave. It was a hidden gem! The staff were very friendly, the owners were always available and very sweet and kind, the food was the best in Zanzibar. It’s a very quiet and lovely getaway. The beach felt like a private beach away from the overbearing Masai and tourists. The hotel was very cozy, authentic and unique. The rooms were spacious, the balcony was stunning and watching the sunrise every day was beautiful, AC was working perfectly, rooms was always clean and they clean twice a day. If you want to relax.. this is the place to stay! The owners and staff quickly became our family. Thank you for the most beautiful stay, we will be back again! Perfect vacation accommodation, designed in the style of Zanzibar, located right on the coast with a beautiful beach. The room is spacious, with the option of using air conditioning and fans, and has a lovely terrace. There's a beautifully landscaped yard with a pool (which is realistically unnecessary when you have the sea) and a large terrace on the adjacent building where you can stay and dine. Food si great and the prices are acceptable. Communication with the owner was excellent; they offered and organized some local activities, car rental, and a visit to a nearby school. A special commendation goes to the staff who were more than excellent.

This must have been one of the best experiences of my travelling life! First, the Villa - it is a modern villa (a little unusual for Matemwe) with white-washed walls and warm accents throughout, right on the beach at the north end of the village of Matemwe (Kigomani). The view from my second floor terrace was amazing. It has a swimming pool which I sadly did not get to use. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was generous and convenient. The hosts, Paulette and Didier, were just wonderful! I was treated better than just a guest - the dinners were a family affair with lively conversation and wonderful food and wine. Staff were impeccable and always available to help. I arrived early than the standard check-in time, but my room was ready and I was glad I could get some rest after a whole morning of travelling.

We stayed at Villa Tulia as a group of 6 and had an absolutely amazing experience. The villa is stunning, very clean, and comes with great amenities. What truly made our stay special was the incredible staff – Paul, the always-helpful property manager, the resident chef who prepared delicious meals, the housekeepers, security team, and gardeners – everyone was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Every morning we were treated to a fantastic breakfast with a wide variety of fresh options, which we looked forward to daily. The villa is perfect if you're looking for privacy and peace – it has direct access to the beach, and most days it felt like we had the entire shore to ourselves, free from vendors or crowds. We also felt very safe, with round-the-clock security. The beach is ideal for long walks, morning swims, or stargazing at night – truly magical. There's also a small kitchen available if you ever feel like cooking. Also worth mentioning is Sam, the villa’s recommended driver, who was amazing and stayed with us throughout our entire trip. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and enriched our rides with fascinating insights about Zanzibar. He also helped us organize excursions and day trips, making everything smooth and enjoyable. If you're looking for a quiet, luxurious, and private stay in Zanzibar with top-notch service, Villa Tulia is the place to go. We can’t thank the whole team enough – we had an unforgettable stay and would return in a heartbeat!

Laucin, the host, went above and beyond! We arrive late due to flight delays. He cooked us a wonderful seafood dinner, made arrangements for transportation, snorkeling and dinner another night. Breakfast was delicious and catered to our needs. The pool is wonderful, it is a close walk to the beach if you are looking for ocean. Laucin took care of everything!
