Maspalomas Dunes and the Lighthouse
Directly east of Maspalomas and spanning the southern tip of Gran Canaria, these expansive dunes have been protected as a nature reserve since 1897. With four kilometres of coastline, its rich golden sands are a haven for tourists throughout the year. There’s no better place to view this desert paradise than from the top of the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which was built in 1890.
Beach and Harbour of Mogán
At Playa de Mogán, you'll find pristine sands and crystal waters to match. A favourite with families, the waves are calm and there's lots to discover beneath the surface – so don't forget your snorkel! When it's time to eat, the town's port offers a selection of seafood restaurants, serving up delicious, freshly caught morsels.
Tasarte Beach
If you want to escape the crowded beaches of Playa del Inglés and reconnect with nature, make the one-hour drive west to Tasarte Beach. This 700-metre stretch of pebbles and black volcanic sand is practically deserted, save for the patrons of a small hostel and restaurant. Most of them will be wearing their “birthday suit”, too, so don’t be shy. asked travelers...
