Hotels That Guests Love in Shirahama
  • First, this small inn is located in a quiet residential area of Shirahama, away from the noisy tourists at the beach. The staff is incredibly friendly, inviting us to a family BBQ and driving us to some of the more far away places as well. The breakfast was inviting and delicious. The rooms are spacious, each with their own bathtub, shower, and toilet, television, small balcony, fridge... All in all, a very relaxing experience at Shirahama!

  • The owner is very nice. Because I checked in pretty early, he let me choose my bed. He also good at cooking. I love the beef curry he made for me in the morning. By the way, Shirahama beach is crazy beautiful. When I came, there was an event at night, on the beach. People lighted up a lot of candles on the beach, and there was message firework for nearly an hour. It was incredible!

  • The host Tom was very friendly and nice. He made an effort to get to know guests and ensured that we enjoyed our stay. Facilities are new and clean, and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. Parking is free on site and the shared bath/onsen was great! You can walk to Shirahama beach just 5 min away and there are some restaurants and a convenience store near by.

  • Guesthouse Shirahama is great! It really makes you feel on Holidays. Just 10 min from the beach by walking, it is greatly located near restaurant and city life. The owner is really nice and helpful, she even gave me a ride to the train station when I left :)

  • The house is a really cute space, and Rinji-san was such a good host! Highly, highly recommend this place for your stay in Shirahama. Rinji-san goes all out to take care of your comfort and needs. He gave us many great food recommendations, and even brought us to see fireflies, which was at quite a far location we would not have been able to get to on our own. The house is also very near Shirahama beach and the town so it is a perfect location. Also highly recommend his breakfast set! It was very yummy. Rinjiさん、ほんとにありがとうございます!ほんとに楽しかった!

Things to Do in Shirahama

Shirahama Beach
Shirahama is better known for hot springs than sandy strands, but this beach manages to marry the two nicely. For most visitors, the crescent of white sand alone would be paradise, yet the presence of Sakinoyu takes things up a notch – the ancient open-air hot spring flows directly into the picturesque Namariyama Bay.
Sandanbeki Cliff and Cave
Shaped by the Pacific’s powerful waves, these tall rugged cliffs stretch for almost two kilometres. You can get a feel for nature’s brute force with a stroll along the fenced, cliff-edge path. Venture down to the underground sea caves that were once the secret hideout of the Kumano-suigun – feared pirates that ruled these parts until the early 12th century.
