Hotels That Guests Love in Santa Cruz
  • The Seaway Inn seems like a 1960s beach hotel that has had an extensive remodel. It is right on scenic West Cliff Drive. We had a great sliding-glass-door view of the pier and the boardwalk. It had a surprisingly nice, spacious shower with attractive tile work and opposing shower heads. I also appreciated the tasteful beach-related paintings and decor. I would definitely recommend this motel and go back again.

  • The location of the hotel is convenient for both beach access and getting into the downtown area in a short walk. It is well priced for the location and their facilities.

  • beach access; ocean view

  • Great little spot near the ocean. Beach access is seasonal with fall and spring being limited. Great coffee on site and ample breakfast. (Continental)

  • The view is absolutely amazing and super close beach access is always a plus. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. Great experience!

Things to Do in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has been a popular destination for many, many years. Here you can have a variety of rides to enjoy and take a thrill ride on the Big Dipper which has made the boardwalk famous. There are also a variety of games to play, and many places to get a bite to eat. We like the elephant ears and the funnel cakes here. Take the sky ride that runs end to end and take in the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The boardwalk becomes extremely crowded in the summer months, it’s best to avoid weekends in the summer if you want to skip the crowds.
Beach Street
Santa Cruz Surfing Museum
For more than a hundred years, Santa Cruz has been a hot spot for hard-core surfers. This museum tells their stories through photographs, surfboards and other related items.
West Cliff Drive
Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse
This historic lighthouse, rebuilt in the 1960s, is a great place from which to check out the local surfing culture.

The beach means different things to different people. What did the beach in Santa Cruz mean to you?

There are different beaches along that area but I always opt for the one at the Boardwalk (childhood thing). I like to relax on the sand and play in the water. The beach in Capitola up the coast about 5 miles is another beautiful sandy, popular beach.
Fun in the sun! Enjoying a day at the Boardwalk; a walk down the pier, (occasionally there are seals), then just strolling through the waves while the kids run in front playing and enjoying their day. Doesn't get much better than this!
natural beauty and people from around the world joining you enjoying the same fun and relaxing views. Wharf was easy to stop and watch waves and sea animals. Lots of places to eat and plenty of rides for the children.
nice beach and boardwalk it is like a smaller version of Blackpool if this helps.
Boardwalk, walking on the beach, playing in the sand and fishing off the pier.
Watching surfers, waves, birds, marine animals, wading, gathering shells, etc.
Romantic getaway without kids! Great time.
