I traveled alone to Inishmor and stayed a week with Geraldine and Thomas — and I cannot think of better and kinder hosts. My friend and I arrived on Saturday morning, and Sean was already there in his minivan, waiting to welcome us and the other guests. From the very start, his friendliness and attentiveness set the tone for an exceptional stay. The lodge is about 6 km from the main village, and although it is a little off the beaten track, the option to hire a bike made it a delightful and peaceful location. It is also conveniently close to the Worm Hole, which I highly recommend visiting! Sean gave us fantastic advice to help us make the most of our experience on the island. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The private bathroom was an added bonus, and the view of the island from our room was simply stunning. The other guests were also very friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The living room is large and cosy, filled with books and comfortable sofas, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There is also space for yoga, both indoors and outdoors, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was varied, with plenty of hot and cold options to choose from. But the moment that truly stayed with me was returning from dinner in the main village to find the common area lit with candles, creating an intimate, immersive atmosphere that perfectly complements the wild beauty of the island and its charming native surroundings. Sean’s hospitality, the lodge’s comfort, and the peaceful, beautiful location make Aran Walkers Lodge an unforgettable place to stay. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Clodagh was super friendly and offered so many great suggestions to us. Breakfast area was lovely and the food itself was just what we needed to start the day. She even provided non-dairy butter for me with breakfast.

Aran Islands Hotel, on Inis Mor, has spacious en suite bedrooms, some with balconies and views of Kileaney Bay and Kilronan Harbour. It has a restaurant and bar and free internet access. The hotel staff went above and beyond. I got a free upgrade into a chalet with a beautiful sea view. The pan fried sea bass I had for dinner was amazing. Everything was spotlessly clean and all the staff were great, particularly Joanna on reception who arranged for my phone charger to be put on the ferry to the mainland, after I left it in my room, and the hotel manager who took it down to the ferry port. Cannot fault this hotel, highly recommended.

This is a great hotel for those who want to slow things down a bit while visiting Ireland. The hosts are very friendly and more than willing to accommodate any requests you may have. The rooms are simple but very clean and comfortable, we slept better here than anywhere else in Ireland. Breakfast is outstanding as is the attached pub which is of course the center of village life here, especially in the off season as they are the only one open year round. Unfortunately we arrived during a cold snap with very blustery days yet our hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome and warm. We will definitely be back in the high season when the weather is a bit more agreeable but I would not trade this offseason visit for the world.
