This hotel was excellent! It's quite expensive, but I stayed here for a backpacking trip around the peak district. The staff was accommodating to what I was here for, they were very excited for me and took great care of everything. The room is as you would expect, the bed was acceptable, pillows are always questionable in hotels, and the bathroom was excellent. I can't justify fully the cost that it was, but in the area, this was the best option due to the price and the fact that the hiking trail started just in front of the pub. Their food was excellent as well, I had lunch after I finished and the staff was as helpful and even asked me how the hike and camping went. If I have hiking trails in the vicinity again I'd stay here for sure.

The house and room were very comfortable and clean. The shared bathroom was new, clean, and very spacious. I would definitely stay here again. Good value for the price.

Comfortable accommodation with fabulous views as up high on a ridge. Andrew the host was very friendly and the cooked breakfast was great. Room was spacious and clean with a good shower. Luxious towels and a huge bed which was comfortable. Very quiet. Would recommend the pub next door for evening meal. Adequate car parking space.

The room was absolutely gorgeous. Lovely huge bathroom, huge bed and a really comfy sofa. Plenty of wardrobe space. Tea and coffee making. 2 wine glasses and a bottle opener. A refillable glass bottle of cold water in the fridge and a bottle of milk. There were hand soap and shower/shampoo (all refillable) which is great to see rather than individual toiletries. There were guide books in the hallway that you could borrow for walking and cycling. The owner was really welcoming and very accommodating. Beautiful house. Location was perfect.

The location is fantastic and the staff and owners make any stay extremely enjoyable. The rooms are very comfortable and modern and the food is locally sourced and delicious. Given the location, the Barrel can get very busy, but the peace and beauty to wake up in such a location is unbeatable!
