The hotel is a lovely old edifice right in the village, with comfortable rooms and a delightful light-filled breakfast area. Convenient to everything Grasmere has to offer. After a long, long day on the Coast to Coast Trail, our stay was a very welcoming respite. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even loading us down with a few free energy bars for the road ahead.

Perfect place for a rest day on the coast to coast walk. We stayed in the attic room which was very spacious with a huge bathroom with bath and seperate shower. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Juliette balcony was great to nosey at world. Breakfast was an epic with yoghurt, cereal, full English and barista made coffee. Breakfast is from 8am but on our second morning we wanted an earlier start so arranged for a bacon butty and coffee to go. Everyone we interacted were very helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately it rained for the two days we were there, so we spent alot of time in our lovely room and bath. So nice. Breakfast was wonderful. A nice respite in the middle of a busy trip.

    Victorian House is the perfect home base for a stay in Grasmere, it is nestled on a quiet corner steps from the main shops and restaurants of the town, with the most spectacular view. Beautifully designed and kept, each room has an air of luxury in the most cozy comfortable way. Beyond the location and design the staff are amoung the most caring and hospitable I have ever experienced, taking genuine care in each aspect of the experience. Also an excellent breakfast! We can’t wait to return to this special place.

    Quiet and 100yds off the Main Street, perfect for walking high or low around Grasmere and beyond. Stayed in the Penthouse, top floor with a private outside terrace which is nearly as big as the room… great for the dog and if we had had better weather, for us too! Plenty of parking, Richard was on hand twice when we needed a hand… forgotten phone charger and then jump leads for the car!!! Nothing was too much trouble, great host.
