This 5-star country house dates back to 1909, and still retains period antique features. It offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a peaceful setting above the River Ure in Wensleydale, just outside the hamlet of Thornton Rust.

Vanessa was the perfect host. She worked hard to provide a breakfast that everyone wanted, and kept the property in beautiful shape. We loved the garden, the ducks and chickens, and of course, Scout.

The cottage was perfect for our stay. The walk we planned to do started up the road from the cottage so the location was ideal. The host was lovely, the lounge cosy and comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the street very quiet during our stay.

A very well renovated cottage containing everything we needed. All was very clean and comfortable. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Some tea, coffee and biscuits were supplied. Great location, very quiet and nice views a short stroll from cottage. Very nice walk into Hawes across the fields (paving slabs marking footpath most of the way). Safe parking for our two motorcycles on the drive at the end of the terrace. Just one thing to bear in mind, there are no toiletries provided so bring your own.

Location was very rural and quiet just what we were looking for. With lovely scenery and a quiet country pub next door. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices, homemade granola and fresh fruit. Scottish breakfast was a good portion with lots of variety and scrambled tofu was a new experience. Hame made pancakes were delicious. The home made rock cakes were a sweet and welcoming touch, especially after our local walk.
