We have been traveling around Southeast Asia for about five months now, visiting 6 or7 countries, and we’ve realized that it’s not the nature, food, or history that stays with you the most, but it’s the people. Our first week in the Philippines, while staying in Manila, wasn’t the best experience. But everything changed once we arrived on Mindoro Island, and especially when we stayed at Macrina’s place. Macrina and Ligh are two of the kindest, most welcoming people we’ve met on our journey. Every morning we had a different breakfast, and it genuinely made us excited to wake up. Almost every night they invited us to join their “family dinner,” completely free, and the vibe felt exactly like that -warm, homely, and full of care. The food was the best we’ve had in the Philippines, and the way they treated us made us feel not just like guests, but like long-time friends. We’re already looking forward to coming back and visiting Macrina and Ligh again. If you want a place with real heart, this is it.

Placido's Vacation Home está a 9 min a pie de Balete Beach y ofrece jardín y restaurante, además de alojamiento con balcón y wifi gratis. This place offers great value for the price. It’s well located, close to Puerto Galera, and although it’s near the road, it’s surprisingly quiet at night, and traffic didn’t bother me. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with working (though a bit loud) air conditioning, comfy beds, hot water, toiletries, toilet paper, a kettle, drinking water, and good Wi-Fi. There’s also a great restaurant at the entrance where you can have breakfast and enjoy solid meals between 9am and 9pm. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The bed is pretty comfortable with multiple pillows. The place is also clean (though a little run down, here and there).

Our stay was wonderful! The place was clean, quiet, cozy, and very comfortable. It’s conveniently located within walking distance of various establishments, and it’s also close to the port. Most major tourist spots are just a 20–30 minute ride away. They even offered free pick-up upon our arrival, which was a big help. There is a shared kitchen available where guests can cook their own meals. I suggest bringing your own food to prepare, as this can help you save on expenses compared to eating out. The WiFi connection was fast, and the air conditioning worked very well. Special thanks to our host, Ver, who was extremely responsive and accommodating. He always made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. They even offered their car for touring us around. Ver was an all-in-one host — a tour guide, service driver, and even a cameraman — which we really appreciated, especially since it was our first time visiting Puerto Galera. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend this place. Additional tip (not related to the accommodation): I recommend booking your departure ticket as soon as you arrive in Galera, especially during weekends, as tickets sell out quickly. Based on our experience, we had to take a water taxi at ₱1,000 per person because regular tickets were sold out.

Karen's Cottage at Angel's Beach Resort tiene zona de playa privada, salón de uso común, terraza y bar en Puerto Galera. El alojamiento dispone de karaoke y cocina compartida. Karen is such an interesting person to talk to. The place and the atmosphere are quite unique. Be prepared for something different and go for a swim to the beach in nearby Sabang.

Topaz Bed & Breakfast Hotel se encuentra en San José y ofrece alojamiento con terraza o balcón, wifi gratis y TV de pantalla plana, además de jardín y salón de uso común. Medela was awesome, organizing a pickup from Puerto Galera to bring us to San Jose. Excellent location downtown, friendly staff and Medela and her husband dropped us off at the port the next day. Thank you and see you again one day!

Cuenta con restaurante, servicio de habitaciones, bar, jardín y terraza. - astonishing view from our bedroom and restaurant over the Isla Verde Passage - extremely calm (no roosters, no barking dogs at night) :) - clean and fresh air (600m above sea level) - very clean bedroom with aircon, ventilator and modern shower - Billiard available in common area - always approachable and lovely staff, who can organise everything for you at very reasonable prices - initially steep road but easing shortly after and very well doable with a normal scooter (almost no traffic at all)

I like how the staffs are accommodating. The room is clean and the overall ambiance of the place is relaxed and quiet. There are also resident pets that are friendly.

Puerto Galera Transient Kubo Guest Place se encuentra en Puerto Galera, a 5 min a pie de Playa de Aninuan, y ofrece alojamiento con piscina al aire libre, parking privado gratis, jardín y zona de... You get your whole cabin which is super convenient, very spacious kitchen equipped with everything you need and a large fridge. There is a cosy terrace and hamac spot to chill. You can rent a scooter. Free water.

Victoria's Bed & Breakfast se encuentra a 5 min a pie de White Beach y ofrece alojamiento con salón de uso común, bar y cocina compartida. Se ofrece wifi gratis en todo el alojamiento. We can definitely recommend this accomodation. I have not experienced in a long time such a welcoming and pleasant owners and employees in my accomodation. Breakfast was nice. Reynaldo's Upstairs se encuentra en Puerto Galera, a 4 min a pie de Sabang Beach y a 900 metros de Small La Laguna Beach, y ofrece alojamiento con wifi gratis, jardín con terraza y vistas al mar. Very clean and the owners were very friendly. Good value for money and great location next to a good dive school. The owners also helped giving me instructions of how to travel to boracay. Thank you!
