The dinner and breakfast tasted so good, best vegan meal I’ve ever had! Very nice room felt very traditional. It snowed so made our time even funner! The meditation with the monks was awesome and the location is also very perfect!

Amazing place to stay, extremely recommended. A really great experience in general - I stayed in one of the suites and could not have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful place to stay, only a short walk from Okunoin Cemetary and an easy walk to the rest of town. Very close to the bus stop from Koyasan Station. Staff were always helpful and the meals were unbelievably delicious and satisfying, even though I needed to ask for a soy-free modification. The best food I ate during my stay!

It was such an amazing experience. Thank you to the monk staff who were so kind and patient and guided us through meditation custom and practices. Our room included shojin ryori (buddhist vegetarian cuisine) breakfast and dinner which was very balanced and filling. I feel a sense of gratitude and peace coming back to Tokyo. I would like to go every year if I can.

Beautiful location on Koyasan. The temple ryokan itself was beautiful too! With our room being very big, beautiful and looking out on the nice inner garden. There were amazing ceremonies we had the privilege to attend. The food was vegan/monk food and a-ma-zing, true works of art! The onsen was tattoo friendly so we could bathe as well. A great experience overall.

Excellent experience. The setting and room are beautiful. The staff kind and helpful. The food is excellent (I am not a vegan, but enjoyed it anyway). It seemed like we were in such an authentic Japanese place. It was a great change from standard city based hotels. And Koyasan town is a fascinating place. Trip to cemetery is a must.

The host gave very detailed instructions including photos to help find the property, which is tucked away behind other buildings up a steep hill. The property was spacious with views over the valley. There were plenty of extra futon cushions to make sleeping on the tatami comfortable. The sitting area upstairs had a table and chairs and also a lovely view. Downstairs was floor seating and a very low couch with many cushions and two beanbag chairs as well as a kotatsu table for warmth, though heating was adequate. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were drip coffee bags, tea, and basic condiments as well as oil. The restaurant next door was exceptional and fun!

wonderful atmosphere in this spiritual village. Our room was exceptionally large, comfortable and both modern and traditional. It included a small zen garden and a beautiful hot bath. The top level Buddhist food was both plentiful and delicious. Wifi was good. Rooms were very clean. Keep in mind this is a traditional Japanese hotel and you have to remove shoes everywhere you go. The meditation session was short, but informative. The night tour was also interesting. The morning prayers were also moving.

This was a beautiful experience. The temple is gorgeous. The rooms were very clean. Everything I needed was there. Joining in the meditation and listening to the morning chanting was restful. It was in a great spot, close to the road but calm and peaceful inside. It was a short walk to Koyasan village and many of the attractions.

This place was hard to get to from Osaka but so worth it! The village is spectacular and this property offers dinner and breakfast so you can enjoy the surroundings and not worry about food. It is more traditional than other places you'd stay at, you get to experience sleeping on the floor and the food they serve is vegan.

Authentic temple stay experience. Awesome temple - like a large Japanese villa. Simple rooms which were well worn but comfy beds. You're here for the experience though - food, onsen and morning prayer ceremony all fantastic opportunities to try something new for Westerners. We were a family with teens and all loved it!
