The hostal is a little bit away from Plaza de Armas, but Chivay is so small that it's only a short walk away. The bed and room were comfortable and clean. The shower was nice and hot. You have access to a kitchen if you'd like to cook any meals. Great value overall. Also, Mónica and her husband are wonderful, kind people. They were very responsive to my needs. They even let me store some of my stuff at the hostal while I was away for a few days hiking Colca Canyon. I highly recommend staying here!

Our stay at Casa Vivencial Mama Vivi was truly unforgettable. The family was incredibly welcoming, and we had the chance to experience everyday life in the community in a very genuine way. It’s a perfect place to relax, with beautiful nature all around, thermal baths nearby, and plenty of small hikes to enjoy. Our young daughter especially loved helping feed the baby alpacas and joining in the activities with the family. The homemade meals were delicious, and the room was clean and comfortable. A unique experience into Peruvian farming culture so close to the bustling mass tourism nearby, yet so removed by being on the much, much less visited northern rim of the canyon. Martha, the owner, was a talented cook preparing all the meals from scratch mostly with local products and never grew tired as a trip guide answering all my questions about life in the country, plants and animals.
