Freiburg im Breisgau is only a half hour drive away. The continental breakfast had excellent pretzels and the restaurant is excellent, though closed on Mon - Weds, so make sure to bring food for those days or be ready to drive elsewhere. The accommodation was light and airy with a stove-top and fridge - enough to prepare a a light meal. As we were self-catering, we didn’t eat in the hotel. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and our balcony enjoyed the afternoon and evening sun. The accommodation is walking distance to the Schauinsland cable car down to Freiburg. The bed was very comfy even though a bit soft. The location and views from the balcony and breakfast room are very charming and very peaceful. The forest hike is right on the doorstep.
