The backpacker is within 10 minutes walking from Towada lake, room space is okay, bed is comfortable, common room space is big, shared restrooms/showers are plenty so no need to wait. If you want to have hot spring, there’s one just 3 minutes walking nearby, can purchase the ticket at backpacker, it’s only 350 yen, very nice hot spring hotel.

The traditional Japanese room was really nice. Gave an authentic feel of a traditional Japanese room from the floor mat to the futons and it was way more comfortable than I thought it would be. The best part was the outdoor onsen, great experience for those who have never tried it.

    The interior is a little dated and the rooms a bit retro, but it is very quiet, inexpensive, has beautiful surroundings, and a great selection of onsen. In the evening I used the outdoor onsen and enjoyed the full moon. The next morning I used the indoor and met some friendly locals.

    This place has an amazing spirit and was such a happy place to stay. The staff are wonderful and I met some really friendly and interesting fellow guests here. The meal available of the traditional barayaki was one of my favourite meal experiences in 3 weeks travel in Japan. And to be able to access the amazing onsen/ rotenboru at the hotel next door for hardly any money at all (¥300 or ¥500 , I forget which) is an incredible bonus. Great location too! ありがとうございました！
