The facility, the room, the amenities and property everything was just amazing. The food was also excellent.. owner Anne was very sweet and caring. This facility is near to block 6 of the national park which has a lot of elephants and other animals and birds.. although block 1 is famous for leapord but sightings are difficult and it's dense forest so we can't see a lot of animals.. we would have loved to spend a few more days just relaxing in this property if we didn't have other plans. Amazing views of the lake and peacocks and monkeys roaming in the hotel gardens.. amazing.

Our stay at this charming riverside cottage was unforgettable. The food and beverages were fresh, delicious, and full of local flavor, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help. Just a short 5 km ride from the property, there’s a beautiful river where we enjoyed a refreshing bath while feeding the fish — such a rare and peaceful experience. We also had a fantastic BBQ night under the stars, and the surroundings were perfect for bird watching in the early morning. The calm, natural setting truly helped me unwind and release stress. The stay has all the basic facilities needed for a good comfortable stay. It's like a mini safari from the window and sitting area outside the house. I saw many peacocks running around and dancing many times a day, also monitor lizards peacefully walking by. Many monkeys and buffaloes chilling in the stream in front. Also some birds like blue kingfisher, brown capped babbler birds, parrots etc. The location of the house is great as it's very near to the juice shop, bakeries, restaurants, wine shop and bus stand. Very nice house and hosts. Highly recommend this place.

Clean and very spacious rooms. Stunning view towards the rice paddies and lake. Lovely pool to refresh and relax. The host family could not be more welcoming, they went out of their way to make us feel at home. Dinner and breakfast were very, very delicious!! We would have loved to stay much longer. Thank you everyone for being so kind to us, we'll come back some day. Also you can back your Safari here. The host Janaka organizes the trips himself and has the best drivers. We saw 2 Leopards with his diver Damith and were very happy with how he guided us through the Safari!

EVERYTHING! Can't stop saying nice things about this property and the owner. The cleanest rooms, welcoming owner, the dinner they serve is also amazing and richer than the restaurants offer. He also has bikes you can borrow to stroll around the lakes, he offers you tea and coffee during the day, he lends you binoculars...one evening they spotted this cute owl near the property and he called us if we wanted to come see it...just soooo attentive, I wish we could stay there longer! Oh and the driver he recommended for the Yala safari was also great.

Super clean, amazing and very attentive owner and staff and gorgeous view of the lake. The owner picked us up from the bus stop and showed us around the lakes. He is so knowledgeable about all the fauna and takes time to tell you about everything. We saw all kinds of birds, crocodiles, bats and the water buffalo. The owner showed us interesting places related to local culture and it was fascinating. The food and service were both exceptional. We did the safari tour and it was great but my favorite part of the trip was the Tissa tour by the hotel owner. Don’t miss it!

This was the best hotel I stayed in Sri lanka. We booked 2 rooms and found out the whole villa is ours. The hostess was extremely friendly and helpful. The cleanness of the rooms, size of the room amazing, location in a peaceful quiet very beautiful place, close to the river. We missed the barbecue though. But teh terrace and balcony are worth to try it.

Mailagama Cinnamon Residence is a recently renovated guest house in Kataragama where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities.

This was our second visit to Mailagama Cinnamon Residence and we were truly happy to see again the owners of the hotel, Indira and her husband. The hotel is located in a picturesque place among green rice fields. We loved walking around the area - there are large lakes nearby, and there are few people around, but an incredible number of peacocks. A real kingdom of peacocks. The room was clean and spacious, with a balcony with a great view. There was also a big shared terrace to work online or to do yoga. The fans helped to cope with the heat, which was important for us. We really liked the Srilankan food at the hotel - delicious and served with great elegance. Manager Inbaraj was always attentive and helped us with any questions. On his advice, we visited two temples - Rock Temple where you can see dozens of funny monkeys and Kataragama Maha Devalaya. Both places are interesting and atmospheric, especially the latter, which is famous for its festivals throughout the country. We hope to come back here next year to see the beauty of the nature and to feel the special friendly atmosphere.
