Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. It was in a great location for public transport and walking distance to the city centre. All the staff were very nice and helpful with any questions or requests. The back garden area was also nice to sit in and have a drink.

We stayed for 6 nights and were incredibly happy with this outstanding apartment! It's in an excellent location, close to everything in the old town with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The kitchen included lots of cutlery/bowls and cooking utensils and basic supplies (pepper, salt, oil, herbs, spices etc) which made cooking at home relatively easy. The bathrooms include soap and there is a dryer and clothes washer with laundry powder. Several fans were available if it gets hot at night as opening windows can let in street noise (though we slept with the windows open and it was fine). The view from the balconies was great for breakfast in the morning and a drink in the evening!
