It was so easy to get from one place to another because the trams all stopped a few steps away from our hotel. We had a problem with booking.com tbh, because they cancelled our booking while I was mid flight. I opened my phone to find out that our booking had been cancelled. I had to call the hotel to ensure that our booking was still secure because really, we had no where else to stay. I was so appreciative that they held on to our booking because they too were surprised about the sudden cancellation. The staff assisted us the entire time and were so gracious and pleasant to coordinate with. From this, to the check in, to the check out..everything was perfect. I highly highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a pleasant stay in Basel.

A young man at the front desk was very helpful in directing us toward art in the city. The room also came with a flotation device for swimming in the river and tickets for discounted public transport.

Basel's congress centre can be reached within a 10-minute tram ride. Public transport is free of charge on the day of arrival. Guests can take bus number 50 from the airport to the main train station and bus number 30 from the train station to the hotel. The Steinenachanze Hotel was perfect for us, close to the city center, very good staff, clean and spacious rooms with great price, beautiful breakfest area with good alternatives to eat.

Casa Esperanza is located a 5-minute tram ride from the centre of Basel and offers free WiFi and a shared terrace with seating area. The rooms all come with a flat-screen TV.

The apartment of Casa Esperanza has a fully equipped kitchen, a balcony and a private bathroom. The studio and the double room have shared bathroom facilities and an electric kettle. Overall, a great experience. I was met by Kai, who took me to my room, and explained everything, including with a lever-arch file of notes. He checked that I had everything I needed, and then left. I didn't need to contact him, but I had all his contact details in case I did. It's a large enough room with beds, a table and a well-enough equipped kitchen, and a fan in case it gets a bit hot. There is enough hanging space in the cupboard. The bathroom is shared with another room (I knew that at the time of booking), and that might not suit everybody, but it was perfectly fine with me. The location is great: about 2-3 blocks from a tram intersection for the Number 1 tram that goes to the main station and to the Messe Convention centre. Other trams are also there, but I did not use them. There are also two largish grocery stores in the vicinity of the tram station.
