The place was very cute, super comfortable, clean, and welcoming. I felt right at home and the entire building is sitting in this very cute location. The owner had 2 cats which roam around the property. It was great to see them. The hosts were also very attentive and friendly. I had a great time speaking to them in Japanese, but they seem to manage really well with people don't speak Japanese. The best thing for sure was that they totally saved me twice! I didn't realize how rural this place was when I booked it. On the map, it looked more accessible on foot and it was only when I was heading to Aso that I would be in trouble because of my luggage. The host offered to pick me up from Akamizu and the even to take me back to get dinner/use the onsen. Later, they also offered to drive me to Tateno station for my departure train. This saved me so much stress. I couldn't walked with my luggage, but it would have been miserable. Overall, I had a really wonderful time staying here. Felt very peaceful and I was able to relax, especially after my long hike on Mt. Aso.

The owners were so nice and friendly. The woman speaks good English and they do their best to inform us on the things to do around. The breakfast was just amazing and generous ! Even the house is really cute and comfortable ! You definitely have to come here if you want to visit the area !

It was a very nice experience to sleep in a well made traditional japanese guesthouse. We had the accommodation for the three of us and it is very big, just in a small other room there was a volunteering couple and they used the kitchen but no problem. Everything was very well thought of and the owner explained everything very welcoming. Also it is there to preserve traditional housing and villages so it was a very special experience.

I absolutely loved staying at Momiji hostel! Hide-san told and showed me everything around the house and gave some advice on where to go in the neighborhood, made a simple yet good breakfast in the morning. We've had a pleasant talk with Hide-san before I left, and he made sure I got on the bus to the Takamori station. I was surprised with being the only one to stay overnight that day, and I felt super comfortable. The arcade machine, the room samurai katana and tanto, the shampoo bar with Hide-san's personal recommendations, the bookshelf with manga in different languages, and the two lovely cats Nuan and Riku who even have their own Instagram - everything was top-notch! Hide-san, I would love to meet you again some day!

This is just one train stop from Aso station, so provides easy access to Mt. Aso and the surrounding area. The kitchen is fully equipped (cutlery, pans, condiments, etc) and there is a small grocery store nearby to buy ingredients. Rooms are large, and there is a kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a japanese - style bathroom. The piano in the living room was a great and unexpected bonus. We were passing through and only stayed one night, but it would have been a great base to explore the Aso area and we would have loved to stay for longer.
