There are many things to love about La Shamana Ecolodge: The natural surroundings are beautiful and quiet with the execption of the birds and howler monkeys. The buildings are also beautiful both in their construction and decor... I loved the colors and fabrics used in the room we had! Breakfest was delicious and varied each morning. The night walk was exceptional with a very knowledgeable (especially about frogs and snakes that won me over to reptiles) and all the staff were attentive and helpful. Overall, this is a place to relax and be in nature. There is a small pond with a few long chairs, but not for swimming. It is accessible most easily with a 4x4 vehicle... close to Cahuita.

It also has an outdoor pool. we loved how it was surrounded by nature, nice and quiet. the location was great for relaxing and going to the beach, with great restaurants nearby and not to far from Puerto Viejo in taxi. we stayed in the original room we booked but it was by the reception and was a last minute booking. but we asked if there was any better rooms with air conditioning. the staff was brilliant and after 1 night they moved us to a new lodge nearer the pool area. also they new it was our honeymoon and gave us a bottle of champagne and flowers on the bed. all in all great hotel and stay.
