Only a few lights in the Silverstrand facilities, saunas and kota-hut for me to enjoy with plenty of firewood. Sea was frozen. Snow. Enough far from the main roads. Beautiful stars. I could imagine how one might find all said a source for anxiety, but it all really depends what you're looking for. I wanted quiet time in a comfortable setting. I got exactly what I bargained for. Hanko is considered as a summer town, which it definitely is. Winter can be windy, cold and hostile in many ways, especially next to the ocean. It was all that, especially windy, but then it's all about the right gear and mind set. I got a feeling of being up north on this visit.

I chose it carefully for the location and ease of moving around, and I was pleased to find all was perfect. Parking was easy, driving back and forth to Turku and many other locations is a breeze, there is a big supermarket and fuel pump within a few blocks, yet you are in the middle of the forest, so there's a lot of wildlife to see, you get to feel the sand of the beach at your feet and within a couple of minutes you are back into the forest. The facilities are well-maintained and cleaned, everything works ok, no problem having a shower or doing your business at the toilets, and they keep an eye on sustainability, so sorting out the waste is easy as well. The staff is very friendly and professional, very informative, and happy to help. I was lucky enough to have Tomi help me find my way around on the first day, and then the rest of the week, a shout-out to him and the rest of the team. The business is managed by a great man whom I enjoyed befriending during my short stay. I'll make sure to go back and say hello again to Juhan and all of the Solliden fam real soon!

Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Very romantic cottage :) Everything was clean and tidy, I would reccomend this accomodation.
