We’re a couple of very experienced travellers. We’ve stayed in some of the best hotels around the world. There are many times that these five star hotels just don’t live up to expectations. Here, we took a chance as all the reviews seemed almost too good to be true. Since our stay at Kandalama Lodge we’ve stayed in many hotels around Sri Lanka. A handful were more costly than Kandalama Lodge and each time we’ve been disappointed. Wedge, the hotel owner was one the most thoughtful and intuitive hoteliers that I’ve come across in this country! His team at the lodge also understood the standards he expected. The lodge has been crafted with such care and precision in a way I’ve not seen anywhere else in Sri Lanka. The layout of the lodge, the plants and flowers around the pool, dining and bar area are reminiscent for me of a high end lodge I stayed at in Bali. Perfection! Don’t get me started on the dreamy outdoor bathroom, wow! Also, I have to say, the food is superb and reasonably priced. Amila is always on hand with his tuk tuk and he’s just the nicest person. The price to go to Lion Rock and Dambulla Cave were reasonable and he didn’t try to upsell us at all. The grounds boys are lovely and keep the pool area and grounds tidy. Honesty I can’t say enough about this place, thank you so much Wedge! I hope we have the pleasure to stay with you again one day.

Everything! It was cozy, equipped with everything you Need. Peaceful, clean and chilled location. The owners were very kind, helpful and hospitable, they kept checking on us even though we were barely staying for one night. The food was lovely, simple and exceptional. It’s way more worth than the price they charge. Worth the money. It’s a must stay if you are looking for a getaway with serenity.
