They have small gift shop, supporting locals! I left with 2 books. The place is the definition of tranquility. The rain and clouds in the back make this the place to be! The guider tour and snacks was the creme on top of our stay in Namibia.

They go the extra mile and seem genuinely happy. Special thank you to Petrus and the front of house team for being so kind. The lodge has charm, good vibes and seemed much more authentic compared some other lodges we stayed at. The location is incredibly peaceful and quiet. We saw giraffe, warthog, impala, kudu, waterbuck, mongoose, ostrich - either by sitting at the new waterhole viewing platform with a drink at sunset, or by going for a little walk . We stayed in winter, but our room had a heat pump plus a woodburner which was lit by the staff every night. Super cosy. Perfect spot to get a first taste of Namibia, recover and recharge after a long flight. We felt very at home.

Immanuel Wilderness Lodge is located 20 km north of Windhoek. Surrounded by African savannah in a growing suburb of the capital, the lodge offers a garden, outdoor pool and restaurant.

The Afro-chic rooms at Immanuel Wilderness Lodge are fitted with a private bathroom and tea-and-coffee making facilities. The beds are draped with a mosquito net. Linen and towels are provided. Beautiful grounds, relaxed atmosphere, local wildlife of tortoises, ostrich & springbok, plus the owners 4 cats. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool and outside lounging areas were plentiful with Chris overlooking the waterhole, plenty of comfy loungers and other seating areas around the property. The food was outstanding! The best of our entire trip. Comfy rooms and beds too. I would definitely recommend as a place to stay on route to the airport or on arrival in Namibia.

National Botanical Gardens Windhoek is 10 km from the lodge, while Warehouse Theatre is 10 km from the property. Eros Airport is 14 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. I loved everything about my 1-week stay at the River Crossing Lodge! My chalet room was large and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom and shower overlooked one of the canyons of the game reserve, and the water pressure and temperature were excellent. The food selections offered for breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent, especially the dinners. The dinner meals were perfectly prepared and always delicious! The staff at the lodge were uniformly friendly and 100% professional. They are world class in terms of hospitality service. I suffered a back problem during my stay, on New Year's Day of all days, and they recommended a pharmacy in Windhoek that I could visit to pick up some pain patches and pain relievers. The location is perfect, as it is located about 37 km from Hosea Katako International Airport and you can arrange a shuttle from or to the airport for not too much cost (I hired my own car). It is also located close to downtown Windhoek, making it easy to drive into the city to pick up snacks and supplies if needed. But one of the best things I enjoyed about staying at this lodge is the proximity to the Avis Dam Nature Reserve. I went hiking there nearly everyday, where you have the opportunity to see lots of native birds (lesser flamingos, hamerkop) and other wildlife (baboons, rock hyraxes, various antelope). The River Crossing Lodge is its own game reserve, with game drives and guided walks, but the convenience of the Avis Dam Nature Reserve made it a great destination. I would definitely stay at the River Crossing Lodge again and highly recommend it.

The lodge offers an à la carte or continental breakfast. This is a beautiful property outside of Windhoek and a great place to stay if being in the city doesn’t capture your interest. The staff, especially in the restaurant, are wonderful, and the chalets are really beautiful, with comfortable beds, lots of pillows, a spacious shower, and a cool vibe. There are two hikes you can do affording you the chance to see some animals if you are lucky - I saw some giraffe and a herd of wildebeest. Animals can be found on the property too, particularly at night.
