Tongariro Crossing Lodge was a great place to stay for our family (parents, 2 adult daughters). Our main purpose was to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing the next day. However, after consulting with Louis (owner) and looking at the predicted cloud cover, we opted to delay the hike an extra day Louis kindly suggested alternative shorter hikes/activities near by, which were very enjoyable. Louis had also reserved spots for us on the shuttle (to/from hike) but upon our arrival and discussion, we decided to drive ourselves to the carpark which ended up being a good idea since the day we hiked was extremely cloudy, not clearing up until about 1pm. Driving ourselves allowed us to be flexible and enjoy the stunning views for another hour instead of rushing back to make the 5:30pm shuttle. In addition to the room (ours was newly renovated), you could also pay for a continental breakfast and sack lunch which Louis brought to our room the night before the hike. Very convenient and yummy!! Lodge was also within walking distance of restaurants (two that we ate at had great views of mountains, sunset) and small store. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay - perfect for us :). Louis was also very responsive prior to our trip, answering my many questions.

I wished, we could have stayed longer for relaxing and exploring this rural area. Sue and David are wonderful attentive and communicative hosts speaking reliable German and French. They made their house our home for 1 night. An amazing breakfast was served in the morning. Should we ever be crazy enough to fly more than 20.000 km to get here we definetely will check in again at the Mairenui Rural Retreat. Thanks you very much. Gregor and Johanna

Ruapehu Log Lodge se může pochlubit výhledem na hory a poskytuje ubytování s zahradou a patiem. Mount Ruapehu se nachází přibližně 49 km odtud. What a unique place to stay! Loved our night in this log lodge - only let down was wishing we stayed longer to get more use from it. Such a unique and interesting property - very big and comfortable - would be great for a large group (almost too big for just 3 of us!) with a number of different living spaces. Loved all the different seating areas and nooks. Very much appreciated the fire running when we arrived. It did get quite cold overnight so would suggest keeping the fire running or using the heaters. The view in the morning and having a coffee out on the balcony was spectacular - as were the homemade crumpets and jam that we had for breakfast. It had everything you would need for a big group - ample crockery, cooking equipment and pantry staples. Definitely recommend stay here.

ASURE Cooks Gardens Motor Lodge se nachází v zahradě, 600 metrů od CBD a opery Wanganui. Nabízí neplacené parkoviště a neomezené Wi-Fi zdarma. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Everything we needed was there and the staff were incredibly friendly and personable. When we arrived the owner was incredibly welcoming and told us places to visit, things to do and where to eat dinner. She was an exceptional host. Would definitely stay again!

The cabin was new and beautifully furnished. Had all the faculties we needed and was close to town. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Gondwana Chalet perfect for all seasons se nachází v destinaci Ohakune a nabízí patio, zahradu a bezplatné Wi-Fi. Turoa se nachází 17 km daleko. The chalet was very cozy and spacious, it felt like home. Location was great, about 50 km from The Mont Tongariro National Park. Everything was great and clean. Communication with host was great too.
