Great location right above the city center, all the restaurants are within walking distance and even one of the wineries (the Maude winery) was right behind the corner, so we paid it a visit. The lady at the reception was very friendly and overall super helpful. The room was very clean, the kitchen well equipped and the A/C was a great addition (apparently you can’t find it in every hotel in NZ). We only stayed for one night, but it would be perfect for a longer vacation. It it also very calm and I can imaging that it’s quite kids friendly.

The overall facility was great. The fact that the price included access to the castle was appreciated.

The view and welcoming nature of the decor and room were fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for anything more, honestly. It was a short drive to Queenstown yet truly felt in the middle of wine country which is what we wanted.

The property itself was lovely, tranquil, and romantic. Rooms were super clean and comfy. The food at the lodge restaurant was excellent. The staff members (all of them) were truly exceptional. Welcoming, kind, and thoughtful people. The evening wine tasting was superb. Our host was engaging and very knowledgeable about all of the wines from the region. She made us feel welcome.

We loved the huge communal area. The kitchen was spotless and well equipped. The room was also comfortable. A great location close to town, coast and penguins!
