It was a perfect ending for our hike through the island. Wine, electric fireplace, and magnificent view to the sunset in Atlantic Ocean. The place also has a small pool with a view to the ocean, but it was too cold for us to try it. The housekeeper, Maria, was very nice and helpful.

Situated within the Santo Antonio district in Funchal, Starry View has air conditioning, a balcony, and mountain views. They are super friendly and helpful. Our car did not start at Christmas and without hesitation they came to the apartment to help us! They were also very relax about checking in / out at Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. I will recommend the place to everybody. Especially with the excellent view of the Fireworks!

Situated in São Vicente and only 16 km from Santana's Traditional Houses, Casa dos Lamaceiros features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. Cosy authentic house with a garden, large terrace with a fireplace, their own wine cellar. The house fitted a family of 5, and we had everything we needed. A great feature of this house is heating in every room, which is mot always the case in traditional houses like this. We were very comfortable during colder rainy days. The hosts made us very welcome with sweets,wine, and basic products in the fridge. Regina was quick to respond to any questions we had. The view to the valley and mountains is breathtaking! Perhaps the only thing to keep in mind - if you are a light sleeper, strong winds and rain at night will wake you up ( we stayed in January).

Set in Ponta do Sol and only 700 metres from Lugar de Baixo Beach, Tabua Lodge offers accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Location was excellent for our needs, away from any crowds and in a peaceful area but within a reasonable and pleasant walk along the promenade to local town with good restaurants and bars. The space and facilities within the property were excellent, kitchen had everything we could possibly need, bed extremely comfortable and a really good and luxurious shower and separate bath. The pool and outdoor spaces were perfect with sun on the property for the majority of the day until early evening. The entire place was really clean and attractive and well kept gardens an added bonus. Our host, Richard, was extremely helpful and approachable and responded to any queries promptly. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again should we return to Madeira.

Mountain Chalet by Lavibes is a recently renovated holiday home in São Vicente, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities. Such a beautiful location!! Pictures don’t do it justice. Easy self check in, clean and very nicely decorated.

Very stylish interior and exterior. Quiet, great privacy. Wonderful garden with flowers and tropical fruits, and ocean view with sunset. Great, responsive host.
