Everyone we met was friendly and eager to make our 2 nights memorable. The room was incredible and is among the nicest I’ve had while in Africa. It’s right up there with the top lodges in game reserves. They had no issue bringing you down to the parking area anytime we wanted to leave and they were always available to pick you up upon returning. The pool and bar area were great to relax around in the afternoons and the quaint living and dining room was comfortable to spend time in during the evenings before dinner.

Everything that you need for a perfect weekend getaway. The tent is more spacious than expected, with a well equipped kitchen and two sizeable rooms. The unit was immaculately clean, with fresh linens, towels and extra blankets provided. The wood fired hot tub was a fun experience! Located on the lovely Gowan Valley Guest Farm, a gorgeous property where you can enjoy spectacular river views and forest greenery (the short Forest Walk through the property should not be missed!).

We stayed at Protea Cottage, which is well-equipped and comfortable. It's located at the end of the R600, near the entrance to Monk's Cowl area of the Drakensberg. You can access many nice trails directly from the cottage. The view from the porch is glorious, especially at sunset. Cathkin Park is a great location, and we easily filled our 6 days there. We went ziplining, hiking, swimming in the streams, horseback riding at uShaka, and saw the Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey show. We unfortunately missed whitewater rafting and the Boys Choir show. Leslie communicated thoroughly ahead of time about check-in and other details so there were no surprises. We also loved that it was off the grid, but with the solar panels, who noticed? The kitchen had all the necessary items, including a camp toaster and a French press for coffee. Lindsey and Brett don't live on site, but they stopped by a couple of times, and they were friendly and helpful. Their caretakers were there daily and kept everything in good order.

Tugela River Lodge se nachází na břehu řeky Tugela, 22 km severně od Wintertonu a 13 km od přírodní rezervace Spioenkop a muzea Winterton. Nabízí ubytování s možností vlastního stravování. We loved this location - quaint, comfortable, and welcoming. The setting and the cabin were fabulous. Julian, our host was great. The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean and roomy, and the beds were comfortable. The wood-heated hot tub was fun. Guest could rent bikes, buy firewood, and 'shop' in the farm stall for fresh eggs, honey, wonderful homemade freezer meals, and much more There are several trails right out the front door that enable you to hike or mountain bike to a reserve with zebras and giraffes. We all wished we could have stayed longer! Thanks Julian!

Great Location in midlands/ central Drakensberg from where to explore the abundant surroundings; villages ,eateries, craft shopping; breweries; spa's, scenic waterfalls vistas of mountains sometimes snow capped

Amazing nature around, great garden to chill and a lot to explore in the garden, the accomodation is very spacious and you have everything you need for cooking. Very warm hosts, we really enjoyed our time there and highly recommend it!We had a lovely time!

The owner was super friendly, when I arrived he was already waiting with a smile, place is super clean, safe and very peaceful. Had all the necessities even a heated bed, a fridge, stove and more. As a solo female traveller, this was the perfect destination to unplug from the buzz of city life. 3.5hrs from Jhb, I chose it because it is safe and the views of the mountains are SPECTACULAR. I was welcomed by Sam upon my arrival and immediately the warmth of the lodge was felt. I am a return guest, and I returned because my first time at this property was absolutely incredible. Coming back was always a question of when, not if. The lodge itself is really well maintained, the cabins are clean and stunning. I really like the hot water provided in the morning for tea/coffee with a rusk. The wood for the fireplace adds a nice touch as well for those cold and rainy nights. A special shoutout to the staff, they were great, I was always greeted with warmth and a smile. The greatest appeal of this place is the location, the hiking trails and the closeness of the mountains, but then there is the food. I was fed so well and so much! All my meals were something to look forward to. I was grateful for the packed lunch on the day I opted to be out walking/hiking at lunchtime. I loved that the dinners were essentially interesting takes on clean, whole foods. The hiking trails offer something for everyone (long and short routes), and I took advantage and walked/hiked as much as I could. Take a good strong pair of walking/hiking shoes and sunscreen. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough, whether for a solo traveller, a couple or a family/group. Greenfire is like no other! Nature at its BEST.
