LebanonAn exceptional stay at this lovely boutique hotel in the center of Shkodër. Everything was just perfect. Way before we travelled to Albania, Nevin, a very lovely employee was helping us plan our itinerary to the Albanian Alps. Super helpful and always had a smile on her face. The room was spacious and very clean. They even had our breakfast ready for us the next morning to go since we had to leave early morning. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Thank you to everyone and especially Nevin for your help and friendliness.

This place is really close to the main square, really new, and the folks working here are doing their best to make it nice and welcoming. A nice jumping off point for Theth or the Komani Lake Ferry. (Take the shuttle to the ferry; we drove on our own and it was a little harrowing in my mind).

This time I saw Shkodra with different eyes.
This time I saw Shkodra with different eyes. The city’s diversity of people and cultural mix stood out strongly, and over the weekend the lively atmosphere of parties gave it an energetic spirit.
What touched me most, however, were the Catholic churches scattered around the city. Stepping into them gave me a profound sense of spirituality and peace, balancing the vibrant social scene outside.
Shkodra truly holds a unique charm – a place where culture, celebration, and spirituality come together beautifully.

Reviews we read of Shkoder said it's a university town with lots of biking. Not sure what those reviewers were writing about, but there weren't many bike friendly areas and the town was not as vibrant as we expected.
We did spend some time in the Shiroka area on the lake a 10 minute or so drive from Shkoder and that was very nice - good restaurants and lake activities. We also went to the mountains and stayed in Theth, which was wonderful and highly recommended.

Shkoder is a lovely city with great views, food and nice accommodation facilities. It's a safe place for families and youths with lots of activities around. In particular, the main city area near the beautiful Mosque is an absolute must for awesome food and shopping.

The approach road is currently under construction which makes for an interesting drive, but the location tucked away alongside the border with Montenagro makes the effort worthwhile. We even walked into Montenagro (45minutes) for lunch!

We experienced true Albanian hospitality at Hotel Aleks! The whole family is so friendly and attentive. They gave us a lot of fresh figs (directly from their garden) as a welcome treat, helped us organising our transport to Valbona and provided free parking and safe luggage storage during our multi-day hike in the mountains. We also enjoyed the free bike rental to explore the city. Impressive cleanliness, exceptional helpfulness. Best hotel of our three-week journey through Albania!

Renato was a great host, very friendly and helpful and gave us the best 1st impressions on our first day in Albania.
Renato helped us book tickets for our bus to Theth for the following day and also let us store our suitcases at the guesthouse free of charge while we were away hiking for three days.
The guesthouse is in the perfect location for exploring Shkodër and for the bus stop to Theth/Valbona.

A nice spacious apartment, just off the main walking streets of the historical centre of Shkoder. Only a 10 minute walk from where the buses stop (to other cities in Albania, and to Montenegro).
The host Medi lives in the same building. A really helpful guy who met us on arrival, and gave us lots of info on nearby restaurants and cafés, what to see in the city, and where to get a SIM card!

Fun, beautiful and lively place to end our hiking adventures in Albania. The hotel is gorgeous, situated perfect for walking to the pedestrian areas and offered the best breakfast we had in Albania. Beautiful courtyard and restaurant. Would come back for sure!
