Claridge offers neo-classical luxury in the heart of Buenos Aires, only 400 metres from 9 de Julio Avenue.

it was such a good experience at Claridge hotel. Based on past reviews, I was a little bit concerned about the hotel, but my stay there was amazing. I’ve been for 7 days and everything worked perfectly . The bed and the shower was incredible. Of course that is not a 5 stars hotels, but It still very good one. it’s a old hotel, but still beautiful and charming. The staff is so kind and helpful.

The staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were generously sized. The location is great: it is between the Avenida de Mayo and Corrientes, and close to the Avenida 9 de Julio. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby. We could walk to most of the places we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again.

I liked the option to check in at any point in the night. Moreover, the assistance of the night personell when my taxi did not appear was extremely appreciated.

Very spacious room for the price and location. Hotel is modern, clean, and professional, with 24-hour front desk and fine service. This is not a hotel that is dripping with personality, but it is a really comfortable place to crash in a great part of B.A. at a good price. Would highly recommend for business travelers and for more pragmatic leasure travelers (i.e. this isn't an overly romantic place full of character). Breakfast was absolutely satisfactory. Just a few blocks from the city's incredible string of urban parks and the great commercial and dining areas of Palermo.

FAQs about hotels in Buenos Aires

Tango for Your Senses

Cosmopolitan and trendy, with South American essence and European charm, Buenos Aires represents the living image of tango: elegant yet passionate and nostalgic. Grown around its harbour and vastly populated by immigrants from the Old Continent, it is a faithful image of Argentina’s typical ethnical patchwork.

The enormous relief of Evita’s face at 9 de Julio Avenue, La Boca's humble and colourful streets, the stylish buildings along Avenida de Mayo, or the modernly refurbished docks in Puerto Madero… Buenos Aires is an exciting and captivating city, full of history and full of stories.

Some of the finest Buenos Aires hotels are located near the Casa Rosada, in the Montserrat district. A few blocks south, you can find hotels in San Telmo mixing modern style and old-fashioned architecture.

Outside the centre, hotels in Recoleta recount with early 20th-century glories, surrounded by green areas, mansions and embassies. Palermo hotels include a vast array of apartments, hostels and small boutique accommodation.

After arriving at Ezeiza International Airport, rush out and enjoy the rhythm of Buenos Aires and its many cultural offerings, fashionable shopping streets, its huge variety of restaurants, and the busy nightlife.

Taxis are cheap but so are bus and train. Get the bus and train card on arrival. City tour provided good overview but only made a few stops 20 mins each. We spent several hours in La Boca and had lunch there. Oldest area, very authentic. Stayed in Palermo 4 nights, beautiful parks, great shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Takes a couple of days to understand its charme, but it's a great city with wonderful culture (museums, especially Bellas Artes and MALBA, the Teatro Colón, and milongas are must visits), many nice and affordable restaurants all over the city, especially in more central areas (in the evening, wait until after 8pm and go where the locals are eating, those are the best places), be prepared for huge portions especially in terms of meat In the central areas (basically everywhere you would go as a tourist except La Boca) there is a great and dirt cheap public transport (metro and buses for less then 10 cents per ride), but Uber is also quite affordable, and I only had good experience with taxis as well Two disclaimers: 1. Don't expect ANYONE speaking English outside of the airport staff, then it will be a nice surprise when you meet with one of those few who do - but if you want to get yourself understood, learn at least a little bit of Spanish before visiting 2. AVOID withdrawing cash from ATMs and ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER change money at the official rate (go to Western Union or change by the "cambio-cambio" guys on the street, they'll give you almost three times as many pesos for your dollars/euros/whatever than the official rate), unless you want to let financial insitutions literally rob you blind with their horrific comissions and ridiculuous exchange rates, also avoid card payment if you can or at least check what exchange rate does your card use since huge differences may occur (you can spend literally double with Mastercard compared to Visa for instance), and since Argentinian Peso is not an available currency in Revolut it is also generally useless here (at least as of now October-November 2023)

Buenos Aries is a vibrant and beautiful city with loads of open spaces. One thing to beware of is using Mastercard as you get charged more than double the charge initially but it is then refunded. I was horrified to find the hotel had put almost £1900 on my credit card soon after arrival when i was expecting to pay £800+ for 3 nights. They explained i would be refunded the excess within 3working days. This happened everywhere in Buenos Aries when using Mastercard. We were told this does not happen with Visa. Wise perhaps to take US$ and exchange in hotel where we got a rate of 850 pesos to $1 US, standard rate currently is 349 pesos. To be honest i found this rather worrying when there was almost £4k added to our Mastercard in just 3 days, fortunately we have received the excess as credits to our card.

The city is more spread out than expected.

The city is more spread out than expected. A SUBE card is necessary to get around quickly and easily—and it was difficult to find one. In the end, I bought one from the green newsstand at Puerreydon and Charcas and then had to put money on the card elsewhere. After that, smooth sailing. I enjoyed reading Buenos Aires: The Biography of a City by James Gardner before and during my trip. It expanded my appreciation of what I was experiencing as well as referencing a Lonely Planet guide, though the latter was less reliable than usual.
