Lovely village to visit for a couple of days.

Lovely village to visit for a couple of days. The lake is wonderful to go boating on. Hopefully the cable car up to the top of the hill is working soon. The hike is suitable for young adults and up to fit 70 year olds. The food eatery are lovely but check out the ones behind the main street.

I thing 2 days is ok if you stay only in Hallstatt however you can consider one extra day for Obertraun for 5 Fingers and ice/mammut cave. Hallstatt is a beautiful city however not to much to do around considering the salt mine is clouse. Bout ride is good for amaizing foto of town.

We had a surprise that the funicular shut down the day we arrived. We didn't make it up the mountain for the attractions we planned to see. The Visitors bureau were not that helpful. They were very vague and we felt like we had to figure things out on our own. Kind of strange. We made the most of it and settled in for a couple days, strolling the lake road and stopping at different lakefront restaurants and cafe's

We went towards end of September which was still quite busy. I would avoid the peak Summer months if you don’t like crowds. Stunning town very picturesque. We had 2 nights which was just enough time to explore the town on foot as the Cable car and salt mines not operating in September as end of season. Great home cooked meal at good value for money at the Restaurant pictured below. Austrians prefer to be paid in Cash especially the taxi drivers

We stayed a bit less than 24 hours, may have liked a few more hours, but not a lot more. It was a wonderful intermediary between Vienna and Salzburg. It was nice to be there around the times that the buses weren’t. We rode in on the train, ferry to the town and ferry back to the train.

The cons are it's a SUPER touristed little town, feels very crowded to walk the streets through the downtown. It's a gem of a town, so I get why everyone comes here. We were here in early Sept and even then it was wildly busy - I can't imagine coming here in peak season in June/July. There is also very little vegan food available but we made it work (there's great grocery stores for non-dairy milk, cheese, bread, hummus, veg, etc). The pros are it is really a lovely place and if you leave the town to go hiking (highly recommend), it's a lot more peaceful and the views are just epic. There's waterfalls and lookouts, and paths along the river. The salt mine was closed for construction but that looked cool to checkout. Some of the shops downtown had good things to buy (wooden ornaments and figurines, all the salt you can want, soaps).

The hotel is in a great spot, close to the vernacular that takes you up to the skywalk and salt mine, and the neighborhood is beautiful and pleasant to walk around. Hallstatt is a very small town so it doesn't take long to walk around it but we felt we were tucked away enough from tourists and it was surprisingly quiet, with a beautiful view of the mountains and valley from our balcony. The optional breakfast was very tasty and there's lots to choose from. The host was very informative and friendly.

The location is perfect to visit Hallstatt. 5-10min walking and you're in the wonderful city center. People working there are very kind and attentive. The breakfast is tasty with minute eggs and the hotel has a 'huge' chess game and a wonderful swimming-pole. You can park your car at the hotel and enjoy Hallstatt because city parkings seem to be expensive and complexe. Thanks for welcoming us.

The Fenix Hall Hotel was everything one might have hoped for staying in such a picturesque location as Hallstatt and it was simply perfect. It was a minute's stroll from P1 the car park and five minutes into Hallstatt's unique centre. The hosts could not have been more welcoming either. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Best location in Hallstatt, close to the ferry and on the main square. Room was spacious and had a great balcony with a view in 2 directions. Had a wonderful dinner served by an exceptional staff. Would highly recommend this hotel!
