Beautifully clean city, with cherished historical buildings and parks. Spacious roads, wide pavements and wide range of good restaurants. High quality cultural events and theatre/concert hall facilities.
The free tram was great from King William and South Terrace corners. China town was fantastic to eat at and the hotel food was really great also but not affordable on a daily basis. Having the buffet breakfast included in my reasonably priced stay was a huge plus. I caught free public transport during 9am and 3pm plus all weekend and the Monday public holiday courtesy of The information booth at the airport by showing my seniors card and getting a two week pass.I enjoyed going to a list of op shops by accessing the free transport and getting to see different areas of Adelaide at the same time. It's not everyones cup of tea but it was mine. I also enjoyed the Pulteney Pokies just round the corner and the friendly atmosphere there. They had complimentary coffees and biscuits. The staff at the Sage were really helpful in giving directions for how to and where etc.
I enjoyed shopping at Rundle Mall - as someone who lives in a small country town and usually loathes shopping centres, I found the Mall enjoyable to browse through. Arcades with unexpected interesting shops and excellent opportunities for people-watching made it fun. I didn't use the tram system, but it seemed convenient and hassle-free for those who did. I had one very pleasant, friendly, chatty taxi driver, and a couple of not-so-friendly, borderline-rude drivers. The latter need to work on their customer service skills. (They didn't get a tip, but the former did.) Victoria Square is pretty. I enjoyed watching people gather there through my hotel window over the June long weekend. Eating out caused some hassle, as I have to stick to a gluten-free diet for medical reasons, and gluten-free options aren't readily available. Thankfully a Mexican restaurant at Glenelg came to my rescue and fed me very well! All up, I just like Adelaide's vibe. It's a low-stress, casual, laid-back sort of place. I'll go back.
Stay in Glenelg as it has a great seaside feel with lots of shops and great places to eat. A must see is the village of Hahndorf with its German shops set in the Adelaide hills so pretty in autumn. Take the tram into Adelaide for great shopping.
Our visit to Glenelg was wonderful. I wished we'd known about the penguins at Victoria Harbour beforehand so we could have gone later in the day to enjoy. The Maritime Museum was extremely interesting. The Botanical Gardens and Zoo well worth a visit.
Very quite and cute city. Free city transport was great walking the city was brilliant and great place to go. We found this amazing little bar called The Jade and would recommend the friendly staff great beer. Enjoyed the museum and gallery's. Jamie's Italian was great.
We arrived and were checked in by a gentleman who was great. got to the room started to unpack and went to visit the loo, I had sticky stuff on it and remains - we called the desk and straight away we were moved to another room, the breakfasts were great with lovely views. the lift was being changed so only one working but no issues as we took the stairs
I loved it! The bed was perfect and big. I wish I could have that bed at home. Everything was clean and the staff was super friendly. Breakfast was excellent and had a lot of choices. I am sad I only stayed for 1 night.
