Calile Hotel was probably my best stay ever. The staff are amazing, their rooms are super clean and equipped with everything a guest can look for, their pool area is great and their restaurant “Hellenika” was a great value. Cannot wait to come back one day!!

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.
Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.
This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.
Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.
Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.
Easy access to public transport.
Close proximity to restaurants and food places.
Easy to get around; loved the River Cat ferries!
The Fire Festival was fantastic.
Great variety of shops and eateries.
The light up the Botanic gardens was beautiful.
The Roma St parklands/gardens were magnificent.

Sadly, Brisbane has gone the way of other Australian cities.
Sadly, Brisbane has gone the way of other Australian cities. First, they made the mistake of building a busy expressway along the river in the centre of the city. Then the developers moved in and replaced many beautiful Heritage buildings with ugly high-rise buildings in various hideous shapes. A few heritage buildings have survived and it is worth getting a brochure from the tourist information office to find them.
The highlight of my week in Brisbane was a visit to the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, which is just a short (and very pleasant) bus ride from the city. I also enjoyed the art gallery. I also love the Roma Street Parkland.

Brisbane is a beautiful city.
Brisbane is a beautiful city. We love it & even my elderly mother has been converted who came for a visit. My mother absolutely loved it, how well placed everything is, how easy to walk to everywhere, especially how clean it is, & the choice of eateries, amazing. She said it is so much nicer than Sydney or Melbourne, her words ! The Wheel, Southbank, restaurants, even the night markets are wonderful. It feels safe to walk around & everyone is friendly & helpful. Having the river & ferries to go to different points is a highlight, we just love it !!

We have been to Brisbane many times and been to all the venues. Brisbane is a wonderful city and well worth a visit. The standouts for us in the centre of the city is the Arts Centre, Southbank, a stroll down Queen Street Mall and a trip on the Citycat. It is easy to get around the river city and it is generally cheap to use public transport.

Highly recommend the corner room with views. The views are fantastic. The room small but ample size for a short stay. The reception helpful and courteous. The hospitality staff great. The location is excellent, right in the middle of the CBD and close to Southbank and the Brisbane river foreshores. Room was clean and beds comfortable.

The proximity to Roma Street station is the main reason for choosing this hotel. Also close to CBD. The 'room' is actually a suite! Great views across the city. The bed was comfortable. The convenience to Brisbane is excellent.

Very nice hotel, friendly check-in staff, roomy apartment, very comfortable beds, large flat screen TV's in every room, espresso machine, walking distance to the shopping area of CBD, or a bit further to Southbank.
