I was only in Brisbane for an engagement party. I don’t choose to go into cities. However, because I could walk across the Story bridge to the party I was happy. I enjoyed my time at the Howard Smith Wharfs.

We stay with our daughter, but both my husband and I had nasty colds and did not want to pass them on. We love brisbane, everything is green and lush so different from where we come from where the weather is hot and dry. We love South Bank and its surroundings.

Brisbane is larger city and there several hotpots to visit.
Southbank, Fortitude Valley, West End are a few places to go around.
Activities can be pubs and clubs, live music venues to zoo and ferry hopping.
The city is more charming in the night but it suffers from same problem as every other Australian "city" like Melbourne or Sydney. Prices of a world city for services of an RSL club. A visitor needs a thorough search to spot the few really good restaurants and coffee shops.
Brisbane seems to be self-sufficient and not tourism orientated.
A "mochte gerne" world city.

Pleasantly surprised how much we liked Brisbane.
Pleasantly surprised how much we liked Brisbane. Lovely city for walking around, riverside walks everywhere. We enjoyed 3 hours on the ferry sailing up and back down the river all for 50 cents! New casino/hotel open 'The Star' they had a viewing platform to go up with wonderful views over the city.
Visit the Botanic Gardens at Mount Coot-Tha they are superb! You can then drive up to the viewing point for wonderful views, A bus goes up to the gardens and the view point if you do not have a car.

Brisbane is an up and coming city full of character and friendliness. Great galleries and museums and perfect place to see Byron Bay. We would recommend this city and look forward to seeing it represented in the Olympics.
Location, location, location. We could walk everywhere in the city from Central Station 20mins, to QPAC in Southbank for a show 40mins and round the Brisbane River for exercise 7km in 1.5hour. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Great view of the river from our room. Bed was very comfortable, large bathroom, nice amenities, towels and linens. Pool was heated as was the spa. Nice size gym and great sauna - none of it crowded or to busy yet the hotel was very busy with Riverfire, Whisky event and a wedding.
Great location with stunning views. Handy to the Southbank Parklands and other walking paths - eg. Kangaroo cliffs; Botanic Gardens.
Easy walk to many eating places and about 15 minute walk into the CBD (otherwise can catch the free Kitty Cat ferry which departs from the jetty just below the apartments)
The Vehicle Parking Service is exceptional, and the Hotel Staff is very Professional and Friendly.
Also, the location is unbeatable, Brisbane Southbank Park is stone throw distance and Brisbane CBD is literally right across the river.
Excellent location close to CBD , & within walking distance of everything of interest, Southbank , restaurants , botanical gardens, & generally a shopping paradise . Brisbane has definitely become my favourite city to visit .
