We loved everything about our stay at the Novotel Brisbane South Bank! Everything about our stay there exceeded our expectations, from the super comfortable room to the beautiful Bastille Day decorations, the superb breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, the location, the gym, and the pool - attention to detail was better than in much more expensive hotels, and this made our stay even more enjoyable. We look forward to staying here (the perfect base for exploring Brisbane) during our next visit!

FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

As a Capital city and have been visiting for many years, Brissie's not bad for a Big Smoke and we've been to other capitals in our travels, which are good in their own way. (See your own back yard, why go overseas, we've got it good here) Lots to see, lots to do, we visit a few times for events and stays when transitioning on overseas holidays. Buses and trains aren't bad to get around in, (we prefer to train it) not extensive but improving, You can train/tram from Roma St to the Gold Coast instead of driving, a lot easier for a day trip. Like most places, Brissie's got it's grotty side, beggars, homeless, crime, etc, but travel in a group, avoid dark areas and you should be ok. At least, we're not like the US, which we have visited. Natives are friendly, helpful, but the US has gone downhill since. We have a big block and backyard to explore. Enjoy it. Written and posted by Graham (other half of Karen)

We are from QLD, so a bit biased. For this trip West End was fave. We ate at Southbank, West End and the CBD. Like all food places some are great and some not so great. West End probs better for food/drinks overall. It is easy, easy to get around Brisbane using public transport and walking.

Location and views exceptional, looking up the Brisbane River with South Bank on the left and the CBD on the right, the night view was one to remember, jetty for ferry across the road and a 5 mimute walk to Southbank, Brisbane. 2 bedroom unit was a good size, having option for secure parking was great, pool area nice but didn't use as it was winter. Had a full room service on the 4th day.
