We like the Southbank area and the walk along the river. Walked to Storey bridge and were delighted to find the busy restaurants and bars at Howard Smith wharves. Were able to hop on the free ferry back to Southbank (be careful, as the larger ferry is a paid trip). Great way to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon.
The domestic airport is very good unlike in Melbourne you don’t have to walk a kilometre to get out of the terminal if you are flying Jetstar. After leaving your flight at the terminal you only have to walk 200-300 metres and you are on the air-train to the city. This reminds me of Japan very simple and efficient. Other than the airport I cannot recommend Brisbane. You would think they would have volunteer people posted throughout the city to help visitors. Eating in the city is good but don’t expect any service. It looks like one big construction site wait till it is finished to visit this city.
Brisbane is a great place to visit with lots to see and do, great choice of places to visit and dine it's even better if you can find quality accommodation at a fair price. Read reviews before booking. Ensure you can download another app other than google maps to avoid being diverted through un-necessary tolls.
The river area is lovely for a walk around, Just across the River from the Heritage hotel. Casino is adjacent to hotel if you like a gamble. Opa Bar & Mezz was great for a meal. Ferry trip up the river was nice to see Brisbane from the water. Shops and restaurants were all very close.
We love Brisbane especially at night, we could walk around the city all night long admiring the lit up old architecture such as St George square or treasury casino. So much to do within walking distance. The downfall is the e-scooters, although I see the appeal most people were using them incorrectly, sometime a danger to pedestrians. There is quite a few barricades around South Bank currently, but we look forward to seeing the upgrades made for the future.
Great choices of restaurants and entertainment especially at Southbank. The electric scooters are a fun way to get around. The botanic gardens were lovely and lit up at night and the walk along the river side was beautiful well worth the effort.
Travelled with 4 males for Magic Round. Rooms very clean, location at East of South Bank very convenient (and close to South Bank station). Cafe downstairs very good - reasonably priced, fast service, a little busy towards 9am (but also across road from 2 hospitals). Quiet enough neighbourhood, easy stroll into South Bank facilities. 1.5 km walk from West End and Brisbane CBD (across river). Good free wifi, TVs chromecast capable.
South Brisbane, Brisbane
The apartments are in a very central location in Brisbane, 5mn walk from the Southbank Parklands and its amenities including the convention centre, museum, and the performing arts and cultural centre. The CBD is only a 20mn walk from the apartments. The train station and public transports are 2mn away. There are restaurants, pubs and boutique food outlets all around the area within walking distance of the accommodation.
South Brisbane, Brisbane
I was seeing an evening show at QPAC and this was the perfect location to stay. The hotel was close to QPAC and the surrounding streets and hotel entrance were well lit so I didn't feel nervous walking back after the show. My room was very clean and faced the river & city so you had a lovely view sitting out on the balcony. This hotel is also ideal for visiting anything located at Brisbane's South Bank
Bowen Hills, Brisbane
Went to a gig at The Triffid which was $7.50 Uber from the hotel. 15min walk from Fortitude Valley Mall. So if you’re heading out in the valley but don’t want to stay in the heart of it Code Apartments is a good little distance. The street isn’t that busy also so you don’t hear all that city traffic. The room was large and clean. Balcony was big and the kitchen has all you need. Definitely staying again.
Milton, Brisbane
- The view is nice on a high floor - One-bedroom apartments are spacious - The hotel is almost brand new, which made the stay comfortable - A lot of small restaurants/take away makes it easy to find something to eat - Proximity to the milton train station, even if it's also causing a lot of noise issues - Can walk to the CBD / South bank in 30-40 minutes
The staff were lovely and check in and check out was very fast and easy. Parking was very reasonable at $15 per day. The location of the hotel is excellent. It was 15-20 minutes' walk/a few minutes' bus ride to the locations we needed to go - the QPAC, Roma Street Parkland and the CBD.
Kangaroo Point, Brisbane
For us, the proximity to family in East Brisbane and Woolloongabba was perfect. It’s a great place to cycle around the city including along the river bank, over to Southbank and the WestEnd markets, into the CBD and along the riverside Cycleway to Hamilton or back to the Botanic Gardens.
South Brisbane, Brisbane
The location is amazing - easy walk to the best of Brisbane...Southbank, West End, the CBD, Botanic Gardens and more. The well laid out apartment that made 8 days of self catering easy. The free carpark which isn't something easy to get in Brisbane's inner city.
Staff were fantastic, the room was small but perfect for our night. Close enough to CBD and city for cheap fares around $8 which is great. Can walk if your wanting a beautiful scenic walk. Real fast was Amazing! Great hotel.
