We have been to Brisbane many times for business and to see family and friends. Brisbane is a nice place to visit with good weather, generally, places to visit around the river. We enjoy some of the outdoor entertainment and events.
Brisbane has a fantastic river with wide paved pathway on both sides for cycling, scooter riding, jogging, walking, etc. There are plenty of outdoor venues for food, drink, and entertainment. Great city!
Near Brisbane airport so good when flying in and our Also good for anyone visiting Brisbane for business or Leisure Train or bus to city centre available and lots of tourist things to do . Around and in Brisbane. Boat trips up the river.
Brisbane has come a long way since the mid-1990s. It now has plenty of good restaurants and is easy to get around in a car. Weather is fantastic from June-November. Plenty of good to excellent golf courses nearby on the Gold Coast within 1 hour and Brookwater at Springfield is extraordinary.
For a working trip, I didn't have much time to checkout other places. However I stayed in the Valley next to the RNA showgrounds and was pleasenlty surised that everything was in walking distance, shops, restrauants, transport, parking....
Enjoyed the day/lunch cruise of the Brisbane River. So great to see all the changes since I lived in Brisbane suburbia 45 years ago. Loved the food and eateries. Frankie and George Cafe is anything but flash, but the breakfasts were delicious and I can only see this place growing and getting so much better with the development that is going on in the George Street area. Check them out. Currently closes earlier on a Sunday, which was a personal disappointment. Also enjoyed JIMMY'S ON THE MALL. Very busy on the weekend, but understandably so. Mmmm....the food was good and there was a buzz in the city to soak up. Loved the convenience of the OKEYDOKEY CAFE, near the reception to the SKYTOWER. Here I repeatedly enjoyed the exceptional friendly service of an extremely pleasant woman, originally from Germany. Good coffee, as many other places, but in the wintery weather at this time, she was a cheery person who made all the difference. Happy with my accommodation at the beginning of May at the SKYTOWER and then at the GEORGE WILLIAMS HOTEL. Very different but both great value for the buck, Enjoyed THE WHEEL OF BRISBANE- A ferris wheel on the south bank. And while on that side of the river, an easy walk via the Victoria Bridge from accommodation in George Street, I checked out the local entertainment. Here I saw the musical " Nine to Five" at the modern LYRIC THEATRE at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. I suggest advanced bookings, but one of the advantages of travelling solo is the chance to get that one and only seat without a booking. Heaps of talent and a clever production. Getting around the CBD was so walkable. Taxis plentiful. Shuttle service to the airport is good value and creates an opportunity to talk to other tourists and get travellers tips. Each time I caught the bus there was always some friendly travellers. Next time it would be nice to have a travel companion, but at no time did I feel too lonely or unsafe.
Small hotel on Kangaroo Point, across the river from Brisbane's CBD (downtown). We had a nice 2-night stay. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Spacious room with full size fridge and cooking facilities. Chris at the front desk is very helpful. We recommend taking the short 2-3 minute walk eastward (turn right as you leave the hotel, then left at the river) to Medley Cafe for a lovely breakfast; the cafe is set amongst trees and overlooks the river.
South Brisbane, Brisbane
I was seeing an evening show at QPAC and this was the perfect location to stay. The hotel was close to QPAC and the surrounding streets and hotel entrance were well lit so I didn't feel nervous walking back after the show. My room was very clean and faced the river & city so you had a lovely view sitting out on the balcony. This hotel is also ideal for visiting anything located at Brisbane's South Bank
Whenever we come to Brisbane for a show we stay here at the Rydges. Staff have always been accommodating, the rooms are clean and the bed is comfy. As a member we were given an upgrade to a room with city and river view, which is always nice and complimentary 1pm checkout. Rydges at Southbank is close to many great restaurants, QPAC, the Convention Centre and a short walk across the bridge to the CBD.
Spring Hill, Brisbane
For a last-minute booking for NYE in Brisbane, the room did the job and was reasonably priced (I just wouldn’t pay that price normally for the quality of room). Reception staff was friendly and helpful. Good location near the CBD and Fortitude Valley, easy to access. FREE PARKING! (A rare find in Brisbane city.) The bed was nicely made and had fresh new sheets, however the mattress was very soft.
Woolloongabba, Brisbane
- Good Location: not too far from CBD and food options really near by. - Free parking - Free Wifi: Good speed - BBQ at roof top - Good size rooms - Responsive staff: Well behaved and ready to help. See first three points in the list we didn't like which were addressed by the staff. - Good water pressure. Very good warm water. - Quite apartments - Very good laundry facilities
Brisbane Central Business District, Brisbane
Location was good within walking distance of the CBD, Southbank and restaurants Upon arrival I was told that I had already stayed at the hotel on the 5 Feb, even though I had changed my booking to March - apparently booking.com had not forwarded the information on to the hotel. However, the receptionist was able to find us a room that was an upgrade at no extra cost.
Brisbane Central Business District, Brisbane
We had a 3 night stay in Brisbane to visit our son. The location could not have been better for access to transport, shopping and sightseeing. We could easily walk to the CBD, Southbank, trains and river cats. It was also great to have a separate lounge and balcony for others to visit. A washing machine is a great help on holidays too. We will be back!
South Brisbane, Brisbane
The apartments are very close to the cultural centre of Brisbane giving easy access to Southbank, the city and West End. I was surprised to find the king size bed, a huge bonus. Although our stay was only overnight, it was great to see washing facilities as well as kitchen facilities, all of which were clean and well supplied.
Very handy to the CBD and the Roma Street Parklands. It is located within a reasonable walking distance from the Brisbane River, which was a nice way to pass the time in the evening, and the ferries if you wanted to go and explore. I would be happy to stay again.
Incredible location: easy pedestrian access to CBD, Botanical Gardens and Southbank. Wonderful views on to the gardens. Great outdoor pool and jacuzzi. Staff were incredibly helpful with our needs and requests.
South Brisbane, Brisbane
The location and amenities were fantastic. Spectacular views of Brisbane City. Handy to the free city hopper ferry and close to the wonderful Southbank parklands. Highly recommend a stay at this property.
Brisbane Central Business District, Brisbane
Very clean and spacious apartments. Located in a very good location in the Brisbane CBD. Friendly and helpful staff who provided a professional service with check-in and check-out.
