FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

    Brisbane is a beautiful city.

Brisbane is a beautiful city. The jacarandas are currently in bloom. There is so much to do here, well worth a visit. I recommend a ride on the city cat to view the city from the river. So many restaurants to choose from with a variety of cuisines.

    I live in regional Australia.

I live in regional Australia. This is a great place for a city break. I like Sydney and Melbourne too but Brisbane is the best. There is always something new to discover. The public transport is great - and almost free of charge nowadays. The recently opened Queens Wharf is impressive. Brisbane can be hectic but there are wonderful islands of peace and tranquility all areound and a delight to discover.

Travelling with preteen, absolutely loved Queensland's Museum and Sparklab. Marvellous- 2 visits. The South Bank area was excellent. Lots of food. Footbridges and Cityhopper great assistance in getting around. Liked Betty's Burgers, Siam Thai restaurant on South Bank particularly. How much praise can you give for the airtrain and the very pleasant and helpful Queensland railway staff.

The Parks were nice. Roma St Parkland is charming.

The Parks were nice. Roma St Parkland is charming. Mt Cootha is worth a visit... if you can find a park (take a bus, instead). The Museum of Brisbane is good, and unexpectedly had some very interesting art and photographic exhibitions on when we visited. Queensland Museum has brilliant displays of dead/stuffed native fauna... not so good on plant and fungal displays tho'. Queensland Art Gallery failed to impress (the Gallery of Modern Art was closed!!!) Fortitude Valle is not a hip, happening place... most of the shops were closed/empty. Brisbane's "Chinatown" consists of 1 shop.

We booked for a standard room, but were upgraded to an executive suite. The apartment exceeded our expectations, and the standard of the room, furnishings, and amenities was excellent. The views over the Brisbane River were spectacular, and we spent a good deal of time just looking out the large windows. The hotel is in a great location in the CBD, with many eating places nearby. It is also within easy walking distance to St George's Square, public transport and thee Southbank precinct.

Location and views exceptional, looking up the Brisbane River with South Bank on the left and the CBD on the right, the night view was one to remember, jetty for ferry across the road and a 5 mimute walk to Southbank, Brisbane. 2 bedroom unit was a good size, having option for secure parking was great, pool area nice but didn't use as it was winter. The Location of this hotel, in my opinion, is the best in Brisbane if you are looking for a night or two in the city.
