FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

I always make use of river transport . The fares at the moment was only 50cents. There are many interesting places. The new casino has a great viewing platform and easy access from Southbank where there are many attractions for families. The cultural precinct is easily accessible by foot. Many choices of eateries. Easy day trips to the bay, islands, Gold Coast, the mountains , 2 botanical gardens and a koala sanctuary.

Coming from a small town I was amazed that the people had a small town attitude as they are very small polite and seemed to care about you having a nice stay . There’s good and bad in most capital cities but Brisbane has more good then bad . Still can walk the streets at nigjht . As an elder person I found the younger ones more polite and they have good family values . Great place for a holiday and you have so much at the door way like the gold and sunshine beaches . A great place with really genuine people .

Very good transport and ferries. Enjoyed visiting Mount Coot Tha gardens and Roma street gardens. Took a bus to Lone Pine Koala sanctuary which was well worth a visit. Also had a tour in the Town Hall and up the clock tower. Both worthwhile.

We were catching a cruise out of Brisbane so were just staying in town for the day before and after. We walked around South Bank, the markets and did some nice long walks along the riverside boardwalks. We also rode the public ferries to do some sightseeing up and down the river. We didn't need tickets just tagged on and off with our Visas and the journey cost just 50c. The South Bank lagoon and man-made beach were great and we were spoiled for choice with the number of restaurants and cafes around. Being close to Roma Street station meant we could walk with our luggage to catch the train direct to the airport. The fare was circa $12.

A comfortable and modern hotel in the middle of Brisbane city. The views were superb. The bed was comfy. The room felt clean and comfortable and had nearly all amenities you would need. I booked a corner room which had an incredible view over Southbank and the river, which was even more beautiful as the sun went down and the city lights came on.
