Great location, right next to the big Woolies store and close to night market as well as restaurants along the Esplanade. Big room, very comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Peter, the owner & manager is great to talk to and is always available if you need any help. Get in touch with him before you book an attractions, he'll be able to get you a discount of the advertised price. I'll definitely stay again.

A very good hotel with helpful and polite staff. The people in the reception were extremely welcoming and helped me with a problem I had. I want to thank especially the girl who was at the reception the last night of our stay. Unfortunately I don't remember her name. The room was spacious, very clean and had all the amenities, for tea and coffee and even iron for the clothes. The swimming pool was very clean as well. It's close to restaurants and supermarkets. The internet was very fast

Cairns is David Attenborough's Favourite destination in the whole world - The mountains meet the Rainforest, which meets the sea, having The Great Barrier Reef, which is 1 of the "7 WONDERS", within the world. Cairns has so so much to offer. We had a hire car, drove up Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Port Douglas, Tablelands. We took a Sunset Sea Yacht cruise, Raintree Crocodile Cruises, Port Douglas Lady Douglas River cruise. Cairns itself has a Night Market, a wonderful Boardwalk, a Free Swimming Pool for everyone, a fantastic boat harbour with loads of great eating around the central of Cairns. Cairns CASINO is also great for eating & a nice Casino. The locals are helpful and very friendly. Cairns has quality accommodation which is reasonably priced. We always love our time away in Cairns. Cairns weather was perfect, not a day of rain. Our Great Barrier Reef snorkling was also wonderful.

Cairns itself has so much to offer! Stay at the Harbourside hotel for exceptional service, Bel, Rita and the blonde gentleman on at night were outstanding. Breakfast , cleanliness and comfort + views from balcony in room sensational. This pkace is 5 star in every sense on a 3 star budget price. Train and cable ride a must, ensure you pre book. Fishing charter with Cairns reef fishing Oz , a must do! Katch up restaurant a hidden gem with bloody good food and cocktails . Best op shop was the animal welfare and Maggies. Casino great vibe Pubs- The Cock and Bull, Pier Hotel and Crown for steak. Italian restaurant food and service is Villa Romana.

I loved the night activity and the Lagoon is amazing, very relaxing! Plenty of good food affordable food options, and casual tropical feel and lots of sun!!! I actually usually stay at Palm Cove which is quiter and I find it so easy to travel using the bus services, which are 50 cents per ride in Qld or $1.00 for the whole day, so easy to get around! One point I would say is Cairns City needs to get their street signage sorted out, as I spoke with many and we all felt either their was no sign at an intersection, or it was hidden and not obvious! Yes we can use our phones when they behave, but it is still vital to have basic signage! Overall I love going to far North Queensland as it is beautiful scenery and incredible plants and flowers thrive everywhere and very friendly!!! Leith, Melbourne

Far Northern QLD is one of the most beautiful and eye...

Far Northern QLD is one of the most beautiful and eye opening parts of Australia. Cairns is a great hub for this region, which is sparse for cities, but the appeal of Cairns is not what is in the city, but what is surrounding the city. All the best attractions (waterfalls, the great barrier reef, the daintree rainforest, hikes, etc.) are all at least 20mins in any given direction, but there is very little public transport for these attractions in Cairns. This is I suppose how the tour companies make their money, but it means that a trip to Cairns without a car is impossible to explore self-guided, and becomes very expensive very quickly, because you need to book a tour for any given attraction. If possible, I’d 100% recommend coming to Cairns with a car. It’s a big drive no matter which state you’re coming from, but the journey up the coast is beautiful, and you will have so much more freedom on your trip with one. Cairns City itself is not good for much other than the lagoon, and the shopping. For a relaxing holiday, consider staying in the Northern Beaches, or Port Douglas.

We were three families on a holiday in Cairns and what we were looking for was a comfortable stay , not too far from the city and with enough and more for the kids to do on the days we are in the resort. And Cairns colonial ticked all the boxes. There are enough pools to keep the kids active. Cairns esplanade is only about 10 mins away and all the tours pick you up from the resort. There is a pretty good breakfast menu and there are multiple dining options

On the Esplanade and overlooking the (free) public swimming pool, small public park between hotel and seafront proper. Handy balcony (for all guests but not at all busy) next to our room. Great view from the rooftop bar. Walking distance to everything in Cairns proper. Sockets (USB & proper) near the bed. Staff were very understanding when we needed to leave a day early because of an approaching cyclone.
