Location - so easy if having an early flight, just a short walk from the terminal; sparkling clean room, spacious bathroom, very quiet - no noise from the airport at all. It goes at a cost - windows don't open, bur aircon was very efficient. Fantastic staff!- I made a mistake booking a smaller room at lower floor (to be fair, it wasnt clear from the description), which was OK but music and noise from a lobby was a distraction. We asked if they can move us higher and got an upgraded room on L5, at no extra cost, and that one was fantastic! may not always be the available, so please check carefully what you book.

FAQs about hotels in Canberra

Culture, Politics and Military Mix

A popular quiz question is: what’s the capital of Australia? If you answered Sydney or Melbourne then it’s time to discover the real answer – Canberra. With Parliament House at its core, Canberra fans out across both sides of Lake Burley Griffin to reveal a diverse mix of museums, restaurants and bars filled with curious tourists, political persons and public servants.

Canberra was created as a solution to Australia’s 2 largest cities squabbling over the right to become the national capital. The Limestone Plains region in New South Wales was chosen as the site for present day Canberra. It was a good choice for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bushland, mountain ranges and, more recently, wineries.

The National Gallery, National Museum and National Library of Australia highlight Canberra’s cultural riches. Other notable institutions to visit are the High Court of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive that stockpiles a collection of Australia’s early radio, television and film history.

The military also plays a significant role here with many training facilities for the army such as the Australian Defence Force Academy. An unforgettable experience is attending the Anzac Day Dawn service at The Australian War Memorial.

Australia’s cultural capital with a political punch has many hotels, motels and apartments on Booking.com for that city trip, business jaunt or family holiday.

Canberra is a beautifully designed city that combines culture, nature, and convenience in the best possible way. The wide, clean streets and relaxed pace make it incredibly easy to get around, while major attractions like the National Museum, Parliament House, Questacon, and the Australian War Memorial offer something for every interest. The city is surrounded by lush parks, lakes, and walking trails, giving it a peaceful, refreshing feel. With friendly locals, great cafés, and family-friendly activities, Canberra strikes a perfect balance between modern city living and natural beauty. Overall, it’s a destination that surprises you with how much it has to offer. Wish we had stayed back a few more days.

There is construction all around the city centre and blocked pedestrian and vehicle access. The time for moving around is insufficient directions. I'm glad I stayed at the QT as my room at the hotel didn't get any noise and a nice view.

The way Walter Burley Griffin planned out the city of Canberra it was very easy to navigate around. Visiting the Australian War Memorial is a real eye opener and we wished we had a few more spare days to explore the Memorial fully. We didn't have time to visiit Parliament House which we were keen to visiit.

Location is fantastic, within easy walking distance of many great attractions and locations in the heart of Canberra. The buffet breakfast is very good and worth getting, with a decent range of hot & cold foods, hot & cold drinks incl. good coffee, and helpful staff. The room itself was pleasant with great comfy beds & pillows, and good amenities, and decent cleanliness. Please note we didn't have time to make use of any other hotel amenities so cannot comment on those.

Room was clean and very big. Bathroom very spacious. Sheets and carpet were very clean. Loved that this hotel had their own rooftop bar and pool. Hotel was very well-located, only a short walk to Lonsdale street which has loads of cafes, shops and restaurants. Free parking on site was a plus! We will definitely stay again when we visit Canberra.
