ONE OF THE MAIN SERIOUS TROUBLE IS WITH BOOKING.COM BECAUSE THETE IS NO SIMPLE EASYB WAYBTO CONTACT YOU AND TELL YOU THE TROUBLES..I WAS HAVING...YOUR SITE IS NOT USER FRIENDLY...ITRIED AND TREIND AND GOT NO WHERE...SO AFTER THIS TERRIBLE BUSINESS I WOULD NOIT USE YOUR SITE AGAIN !!!!!
Lovely feel to the regional town. Easily accessible, clearly sign posted, all facilities and services that I required were available. Was recommended to try Big Jim's for Pizza - very nice indeed and highly recommended. Was also recommended Saffs Cafe in Mostyn Street. It was excellent, very busy and the staff were top notch !
Great steam train trip to Malden, great restored carriages etc. Nice town to wander around with some lovely buildings. Had pizza one weekday afternoon in Victory Park and it was obvious that a small portion of the population had very little or no civic or personal pride in their home. Rubbish, beer cans and softdrink cans everywhere. A shame in such a lovely park.
Castlemaine has a great vibe centred around its history and it’s future. We loved the sense of revitalisation and the mix of people we came across. There was an interesting variety of things to do from seeing a movie at a country cinema to a hot rod museum, farmers markets and the vibrant Mill precinct opposite the lovely botanical gardens. There lots of good places to eat and drink, so many we didn’t get through them all in six days.
fascinating place steeped in Goldfields history still retaining an appealing collection of buildings, trees and private gardens. Lovely botanical gardens. Food wise, spoiled for choice, especially breakfast and lunch options. Tasty small goods, bakeries, wineries (but where in southern Australia can that not be said!!) Not so many evening meal options but pubs are good and there are a few exceptional restaurants, especially Wild. Many galleries and nearby towns especially Maldon that add to the rich experience of at least three days in Castlemaine. Any fewer days and you will leave frustrated.
Online booking was not very good. I was not able to see if the cabin had bathroom for the price I paid. We had to leave and went to find motel room. Please check carefully when you book cabins as I was sure that all cabins must have bathrooms, but apparently not all of Big 4 have them.

The accommodation was spot on. With large windows, greenery and views over Castlemaine we spent a lot of time on the decking. Inside was very liveable, stunning bathroom and super comfy bed. Surprisingly it reminded me of Ubud. Great coffee shops. Would certainly recommend for an excellent chill out..
Great location, very central to special places in the town. We received a warm welcome and we were very happy with the room. Bed was very comfy; privacy was good; quiet area and no disturbances. We had everything we needed for our two days away in lovely Castlemaine.
Gorgeously refurbished blacksmithy at back of heritage hotel. First class amenities and owner Trevor was so accommodating. His generous, homemade crepes with raspberry jam were a treat. Lovely private gardens surrounded by so much history.
Greeting upon arrival was terrific. Very warm welcome, Well organised and cottages were available even though we were well earlier than check in time. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Property was very clean and provided everything needed.
Well situated for walking around and exploring Castlemaine. Off street parking at rear. Clean and tidy property that fits well with the pioneer vibe of this town
