Where do I start! Our whole stay was amazing from the information we received ahead of our stay, easy check in, the location and comfort of our cottage, the view and all the extras like chilled wine, beer and water. So quiet and comfortable, so soothing just to enjoy the view across the water.

Ashdowns of Dover was exceptional and exceeded all of our expectations. Our family of 3 (Myself, my husband and our well traveled, well behaved 9 year old) enjoyed 3 nights here. The location was great and provided a perfect jumping off point to explore the far south. The house was lovely and comfortable and we felt at home in our large sunny room right away. The property was absolutely gorgeous. The grazing sheep in the green fields, the chickens beyond the flower covered archway, the rose garden, the warm outdoor fire in the evenings and the secluded dock by the creek with chairs to enjoy a glass of wine all added up to the perfect retreat at the end of a long day of exploring. Our host, Gary, was warm and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him and the other guests about travels and adventures. Gary was so kind to our 9 year old son and took time to show him the sheep and the chickens and to teach him how to play a new game. Our 9 year old says he would rate our stay 100 if he could. Each morning Gary made breakfast at our requested time and it was just amazing. Gary’s breakfast ranks at the very top of our list of favorites from our travels.

Everything about this accomodation was wonderful down to the smallest detail. The house itself overlooks the most beautiful scenery and it is on a beautiful property itself. You really feel you are one with nature and it's so fresh and gorgeous out in this neck of the woods. A gorgeous drive out from Hobart. Ample heating, blankets and all other ammenities. The Spa was an absolute hit feature and did not disappoint. I would absolutely return to this accomodation without question and would absolutely recommend it.

This area and town are truly stunning. Beautiful views everywhere and the locals are so friendly. Whilst there make sure you visit the RSL - great food, views and very friendly people. Would visit again in a heartbeat. Its also a great spot to base yourself to visit other parts of the Huon Valley, such as Cygnet, Port Huon, Geeveston and the walks down south at Cockle Creek. Nice little town to stay for a few days to visit the hot springs, Tahune Airwalk and wonder about by the beach. Great little pizza shop in town, as well as an IGA and a liquor store. Very relaxing place to stay. We stayed for 3 nights, it was the perfect length.

After a lovely scenic drive from Hobart, we arrived to comfortable accomodation in Dover. Nice little town, lovely beach and views over the water. Good IGA plus bottle shop, and a chemist. We had a fab day exploring further south to Cockle Creek and Southport. Then Hartz Mountain on our way back to Hobart.
