Situated in Gosford, within 1.2 km of Gosford Classic Car Museum and 1.7 km of Central Coast Stadium, Ashwood Motel features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool and free WiFi throughout the... Had a great stay at the Ashwood Motel on the weekend. Great staff and had a wonderful swim in the pool each day.
Gosford is a bit of an anomaly, only 1.5 hours from Sydney by train, but with relatively cheap housing, a country town character and rural obsession with footy. Accommodation is still relatively cheap, though there are only one or two worthwhile eating venues and the prices are on the way up, which may suggest that Sydney prices are not far away. The train trip from Sydney is magnificent, winding through tunnels, steep sandstone cuttings and along rivers and lakes with magnificent vistas. Beaches close by are also of tourist quality, yet the entire region remains a bit bogan and undiscovered by tourists. It's the sort of "B" destination that I prefer when touring, which enables you to meet real Australians in a genuine Australian environment (the F-word is heard at about the same frequency as in Ireland, as an index of Australian authenticity). In terms of seascapes, beaches in nearby suburbs and hill walks, it's really a bit of an undiscovered gem.
Watched the Central Coast Mariners at the Stadium Saturday night - awesome Also went Segwaying at central Coast Segways - a tonne of fun. Kids loved the Lasertag and the buffet at the Gosford Leagues club Sunday nights is AMAZING as are the 28 climbing walls.
We were looking at local house designs and costs for building on some land we had inherited. Our 1 night stay at Gosford was to allow us to have 2 days of investigating local builders and pricing. We didn't investigate much of Gosford it self.
Gosford was a friendly, small place to visit. Beaches were clean and the mall we shopped at was great. We loved our visit to the KEN DUNCAN GALLERY, which offered exquisite photography with the sweetest coffee shop. This is always an awesome combination.
Gosford is my home town, my family moved there in 1948 and our farm was less than a kilometer from the motel, so it was like coming home only things have drastically changed since my wife and I left there in 1972.
very clean and large rooms. But street noise was a bit too much because we were there for a swimming carnival. The fan was noisy and not great so we left the window open which meant we had a lot of street noise - cars, people leaving the pub, trains.
