We didn’t stay in Mackay, but chose to stay at the Dolphin Heads Resort about 10kms out of Mackay. A very picturesque beach, there is an amazing old pub on the headland with the most beautiful view. We had dinner at the Resort Restaurant, and a very comfortable, quiet and enjoyable one night stay at the Resort. Well priced and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We will indeed stay there again and recommend this place to all.

We didn't plan to stay at Mackay, it was the final stop of our road trip and that's where the airport was. Airport only 10 minutes' drive from centre of Mackay, where we stayed in a motel. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The Lagoon area is lovely and very quiet on a weekday when we were there. We walked the Lagoon trail which was pleasant but much longer than anticipated as not very clear signing after you had reached the bridge over the Pioneer River. We should have just taken Sydney Rd back to town but ended up along the river and at the ocean at Iluka Park. Then another 2km into town. Great shopping centre in middle of town. We visited Cape Hillsborough and stayed three nights as it was so awesome. Trails to walk, great beach, wildlife. We saw a goanna, lots of birds, smaller skinks and of course the kangaroos at dawn. Visited Sarina Sugar Shed, which was very interesting after passing all the cane fields.

On checking in, we were given a room on level 1, with no view. The street noise was almost unbearable. We requested a change and the staff kindly moved us to a river facing room. The view was lovely, but to be honest this accommodation is sold as river frontage. It is in actual fact a block away from the River with large buildings obscuring the view. The location is perfectly central though with great accessibility to shopping. We recommend that upon booking your accommodation, to ensure what type of room you will be placed into.

    I did visit a beach don't know it's name.

I did visit a beach don't know it's name. Very clean and appealing lots of trees and some birds. It was low tide and sand which I walked out on right out into the ocean. The place was busy for a city but you can get around reasonably easy. Been here before. Marina great to see. Biotanic gardens worth seeing. City centre nice to walk around. Worth coming here for a look.

Beautiful city it would be a must to have a car to get around as it very spread out or be comfortable on public transport however then you would miss out on some great beaches or lookouts a car is highly recommended.

One of the worst Towns in Australia for accommodation and eating out. No proper facilities at all. There is no night life so you need to book an excellent Hotel where you are happy to spend most of your time. not easy to get around without a car and hire car costs are exorbitant. Only way from/to airport is a cab at $50 approx.

The property is dated, but it is clean, comfortable and great bargain for what you get. They have tried to think of everything and have the following things available - a place to wash the car, free washing machine, dryer ($3), BBQ, tea/coffee, hair dryer, jug, toaster, iron/ironing board. A good selection of free breakfast options are made available to have in your room. The hotel is located close to shops and food outlets, as well as Suburban Bowls Club where you can get a meal.

Everything you would want from a motel while travelling between destinations. Nicely renovated with country charm. Super clean. Aircon on when we arrived, meaning no hot stuffy room. Everything you need, including a toothbrush, in case you happened to forget yours. Have stayed in many motels in Mackay befote and this is by far the best. Will only use this one in the future.

We asked for a later check-out, it was no problem at all, without a charge..Undercover carparking. Great little deck with a view..The tea/coffee/sugar and milk very generous. We didn't realise it was self contained that was a good surprise. Sound proof, couldn't hear any outside noise. The bed was very comfy. We will be staying there on our trips to Mackay.

The staff is AMAZING - friendliest hotel staff we have encountered in a very long time and EXCELLENT service for room request (extra pillow, cleaning request, room service, even a life saving drop-off at the airport after the taxi service fell through!). We will absolutely stay there again should we visit Mackay on another occasion.

Everything is close. Coles, Canelands, Restaurants & Sporting clubs are pretty close too. You can walk to most places but if you decide to drive, it's only a 2 min drive to the CBD, 5 min drive to Harbour, etc. The room was clean, comfortable, affordable & the receptionists was super friendly. I would definitely stay again 👍😊

I loved the comfortable beds, how roomy it was and the location was right next to the mall, lagoon and Mackay CBD. The English receptionist was really nice, helpful and cheerful not to just us but everyone that was in the foyer at the time. Even to a pizza delivery guy. Thank you we will definitely stay again. 👍🏽

Great location with clean room and comfy bed with great views. We stayed at their hotel room, meanwhile our friends with kids were staying at their 2 Bedroom Apartment and they are very happy with it. It is nice, clean and spacious again great view from their apartment too. Wish we could stay longer.

    - When I asked for more blankets they were promptly provided. - The beds were comfortable. - We found a lovely crepe place to eat next door, as the hotel restaurant was fully booked when we arrived. - Loved that the room had its own washer/dryer with easy instructions. - Big bath was great.

This place has potential so lets hope the new managers are up for the challenge to get this place back to it's former glory. Staff were friendly. OK value for a 2 bedroom apartment in Mackay (Glad I got a discount through booking.com though because not great value if paying full price)

The location is excellent, the Canelands Shopping Centre was literally minutes away, and the CBD was very close. The room was cosy and comfortable, and the shower head in the bathroom is one of the best I have ever experienced, powerful and invigorating water pressure.

Great location. Relaxed quiet couple of days. Hundred percent better than the cheaper motels on Nebo Road. Well worth the 20 minute drive and the Eimeo Hotel 5 minutes away, but the little bar beside the pool is perfect.
