Located in Maldon, Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel features a garden and barbecue facilities. There's a seasonal outdoor pool and guests can use free WiFi and free private parking. Beautiful quiet spot, close to the centre of Maldon (we walked to dinner at the local pub and back, it's a nice stroll). Lovely staff. Very clean. It has everything you need (microwave in the room is a nice touch), plus a gorgeous garden with a pool. Highly recommended!
Offering exclusive use, the 3-bedroom Fairbank House features free WiFi and free cooked breakfast on your first morning. Absolutely stunning accommodation! Super warm, spacious and sparkling clean. Beautiful breakfast provided along with wine and gourmet goodies which kept us satisfied throughout our weekend stay. Highly recommend Fairbank House!

Palm House offers accommodations in Maldon. All rooms have a private bathroom. You will find a shared kitchen and a shared lounge room at the property. A beautiful house and garden, with the most genial hosts. The breakfast basket was overflowing with goodies, including fresh herbs from the garden and local produce. A short break in Maldon was refreshing and relaxing, and we hope to revisit this charming spot soon.
Nestled in Victoria's historic Goldfields, Sinnamons Cottage is just a 3-minute walk from the main street of Maldon. Everything went so well - it was absolutely fabulous - couldn't fault anything, communications were excellent, service fabulous, the gardens were lovely, the cottage was brilliant, it was so cosy, very delightful and warm.
Maldon is well known for its very well preserved main street. So if you want to visit a place where the high street isn't full of generic, multinational businesses, this is the town for you. The town is small and is easy to walk and/or drive around. It's also a short drive to a few other notable towns in the region such as Castlemaine, making it a good base for a regional tour. I had coffee & cake at the Gold Exchange Café, (yum), dinner at the Kangaroo Hotel (nice steak), and brekkie at the Maldon Cafe. While having brekkie at one of the outdoor tables, the passing locals nodded with a greeting smile, which I happily returned.
Nice old country township with well preserved historic buildings. Good stop-over point when travelling between Melbourne and Northern Victoria or on into NSW. The town has a couple of nice old pubs with good food and drink choices plus a few small cafes, specialty shops and a local IGA with the essentials. We also found the locals to be very friendly and welcoming.
Maldon is a gold rush town that has retained its historical buildings, attractions, etc. There is heaps to see and visit around the town and the surrounding area whether you walk, cycle or drive. Castlemaine is nearby, but there is no need to leave the town, it has a supermarket, newsagent, cafes, take away, gift shops, and to add to the charm, the attendant puts the petrol into your car for you.. Prices are reasonable in relation to food, gifts, and for those who sew, the patchwork shop is also a must visit. The Information Centre is recommended prior to commencing your visit for all information required, leaflets, booklets, etc from an informative and friendly staff member.
Maldon a lovely authentic Victorian town in interesting countryside. Not far from Bendigo, Castlemaine and Ballarat - and an easy drive from Melbourne. Loved the Cafe / Restaurant - La Sel iin the Maldon main street.
Lovely old world charm. Full of interesting history and is lovely in every season. Great base for the area as roads are excellent and lots to discover. Guaranteed to spot kangaroos at dusk. Lovely old train station and trains. There is still plenty of gold in those hills waiting to be discovered.
I loved the history of the town and its interesting range of architectural styles and it was a good location for visiting other places such as Castlemaine, Bendigo and Ballarat. The pace of life was relaxed and peaceful and it was lovely to simply wander around the area on foot and listen to the sound of birds and the whistle of the old steam train on the days it operated. A particularly ideal place for lovers of history.
Eaglehawk Motel was more B & B standard than a regular motel because so much effort has been out into the design, décor and quality of fittings & linen. It was on the outskirts of town with a 15 minute walk to the lovely historic main street. Off street parking, lovely shady areas outside each room and in the well cared grounds of the property. This property suits the historic township. We were very surprised to find this available over the (very hot!) Australia Day weekend.
Palm House is a beautiful 19th century dwelling and the many period features are a delight. The garden is lovely and a great space to relax in. Breakfast was perfect each morning with hot and cold options for us to enjoy. Amanda and Andrew are gracious hosts and looked after all our needs. We would definitely recommend Palm House to anyone staying in beautiful Maldon.
Everything went so well - it was absolutely fabulous - couldn't fault anything, communications were excellent, service fabulous, the gardens were lovely, the cottage was brilliant, it was so cosy, very delightful and warm.
Well appointed, fully fenced property close to the Main Street of Maldon. Beds and linens were exceptional, host was easy to communicate with and left lots of goodies for us to find on arrival. Will definitely stay again.
Enjoyed the whole visit to Maldong
