Well you know what they say about McNevins- it was Mctastic. Only ever stayed in 2 places in Maryborough, the Arkana and Mcnevins. Id say they're a tie for the best customer service in Qld. Thanks!!

So much interesting history, the woman who wrote Mary Poppins was born in Maryborough.
Such an interesting town, so much historical significance for Queensland a great place to visit and if my circumstances were different, I’d actually consider moving and living in Maryborough.

I knew almost nothing about Maryborough.
I knew almost nothing about Maryborough. I found it quite an interesting town. I thought I'd just walk around it in the evening and for perhaps an hour in the morning, but I didn't leave town until midday, and this was without visiting any of the museums or other tourist attractions that were open in the town centre, apart from a quick tour of the Cistern Chapel. And this was on a Sunday! Apparently it's got a reputation for being one of the best places in Australia for militaria. It also has the Story Bank which is inspired by being the birthplace of P. L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins. And some of the pedestrian crossings have Mary Poppins inspired walk and don't walk symbols.

Maryborough is a good place to stop on you trip if travelling through the are. Access to main highway is easy and city has all the amenities. Only issue we had was trying to get take away Chinese food - one hour wait time at all restaurants.

Maryborough has the Brogla Theatre which is a very popular destination, accommodation wise Maryborough prices are cheaper than Hervey Bay. Hervey Bay is only a 1/2 drive, Maryborough has some nice restaurants, or pub meals, for better value prices. It's an easy town to get around, and nice to stay for a short stay.

Maryborough is a lovely country town to walk around with many beautiful traditional buildings. Fabulous and well kept gardens. Queens park is a must to visit and to walk by the river. Don't miss the Portside museum, Mary Poppins statue and the Mary Poppins figure on the walk and don't walk pedestrian signs at the traffic lights. Really helpful and friendly people with many comfortable cafes selling quality coffee and locally made savoury and sweet items. Fun, interesting Thursday morning markets with home made products and quality fresh produce to see and to buy. Overall, a traditional, friendly country town experience.

An historic town that is very under rated.
An historic town that is very under rated. Far too many interesting places to see in a short stay.
The museums/galleries were excellent - particularly the "Story Bank" - P L Travers (Mary Poppins) birthplace.
Airy spacious living area and kitchen. Large bedroom with plenty of room for storage for two. There was an outside garden to enjoy. We stayed five nights and the available facilities were mostly catered for home cooked meals.
Would recommend a stay at this fabulous accommodation.
Wifi worked well and binging on Netflix was entertaining when not out and about exploring Maryborough and Hervey Bay
The property was spotlessly clean, tidy and welcoming. Even though it is on a main street opposite the hospital, it is very quiet and relaxing.
Monica, the manager, went out of her way to check us in early.
We (5 adults) were there for a work function and will now make the Cara Motel our go to accommodation every time we are in Maryborough. Thank you

The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and knew guest's names. The room was modern and comfortable and also very clean. The hotel also offered Room Service dinner delivered to the room which was very convenient if you were from out of town. All in all a very good stay and would definitely stay again when visiting Maryborough.
Room was clean, spacious and quiet (no road noise). Staff were courteous and helpful.
Having the local hotel, literally next door was really great as they served excellent meals (lunch and dinner) suitable for families (including kids meals) and well priced.
