As it was an old motel, we didn't have ridiculous expectations, but had read plenty of positive reviews. It lived up to those positives, so we were very happy with our stay. The lady at reception was lovely. On entry to the room, we were met by a lovely fresh and simple decor. The room didn't smell old as you would expect, but fresh. The bed was comfortable, and there was not a lot of noise from the main road, so we had a good sleep.
Best Western Kimba Lodge features an outdoor swimming pool and BBQ facilities, just 5 minutes’ walk from the Mary River. It offers rooms with free wired internet and a private balcony or patio.

So much interesting history, the woman who wrote Mary Poppins was born in Maryborough.
Such an interesting town, so much historical significance for Queensland a great place to visit and if my circumstances were different, I’d actually consider moving and living in Maryborough.

I knew almost nothing about Maryborough.
I knew almost nothing about Maryborough. I found it quite an interesting town. I thought I'd just walk around it in the evening and for perhaps an hour in the morning, but I didn't leave town until midday, and this was without visiting any of the museums or other tourist attractions that were open in the town centre, apart from a quick tour of the Cistern Chapel. And this was on a Sunday! Apparently it's got a reputation for being one of the best places in Australia for militaria. It also has the Story Bank which is inspired by being the birthplace of P. L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins. And some of the pedestrian crossings have Mary Poppins inspired walk and don't walk symbols.

Maryborough is a good place to stop on you trip if travelling through the are. Access to main highway is easy and city has all the amenities. Only issue we had was trying to get take away Chinese food - one hour wait time at all restaurants.

Maryborough has the Brogla Theatre which is a very popular destination, accommodation wise Maryborough prices are cheaper than Hervey Bay. Hervey Bay is only a 1/2 drive, Maryborough has some nice restaurants, or pub meals, for better value prices. It's an easy town to get around, and nice to stay for a short stay.

Maryborough is a lovely country town to walk around with many beautiful traditional buildings. Fabulous and well kept gardens. Queens park is a must to visit and to walk by the river. Don't miss the Portside museum, Mary Poppins statue and the Mary Poppins figure on the walk and don't walk pedestrian signs at the traffic lights. Really helpful and friendly people with many comfortable cafes selling quality coffee and locally made savoury and sweet items. Fun, interesting Thursday morning markets with home made products and quality fresh produce to see and to buy. Overall, a traditional, friendly country town experience.

An historic town that is very under rated.
An historic town that is very under rated. Far too many interesting places to see in a short stay.
The museums/galleries were excellent - particularly the "Story Bank" - P L Travers (Mary Poppins) birthplace.

The location was near the CBD of Maryborough. It was easy to walk to shops ,musea, artgalleries, tourist information etc. The room was spotlessly clean. It was nice to have a little place to sit outside although there was no garden. We found it very convenient that there is a restaurantThe White lion hotel ) next to the motel. so we didn't have to go further to have dinner. This restaurant offers good food at a reasonable price in a very friendly setting. The lady at the reception recommended it to us.
Thank you Wendy and Heather for a lovely weekend. Beautiful renovation of one of Maryborough's historical treasures. Comfortable aircon room with access to most of the house. Help yourself Coffee and continental breakfast. Walk to anywhere in town and good meals at Memorial Club down the road. We've booked in for next year!
Very clean and comfortable. We were in Maryborough to trade at the Fraser Pop Festival, so this suited our needs perfectly. It has a full kitchen so we could cook our bacon eggs for breakfast before most cafes are open. Great location and nice and quiet.
Great lil stay, clean rooms and swimming pool right near your door. There is also a kids play centre managed by the owners which is great for the lil ones. Highly recommend staying if your going through Maryborough and have children
