FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

I loved Melbourne; the food and coffee scene was great.

I loved Melbourne; the food and coffee scene was great. Getting around the city is very easy, as it is quite walkable, and public transportation is easy to navigate. I would highly recommend booking a trip to the 12 Apostles to see koalas and kangaroos.

Victoria markets were good.

Victoria markets were good. The Arts centre is a must to visit and the shopping and restaurants are fantastic. There are some very good restaurants close by but you must look carefully as they are sometimes tucked away from casual sight.

It's Melbourne, changed a lot since I was last in the CBD ten years ago. Dislikes traffic chaos/gridlock and closed streets Wirth lack of warning signs, we had to double back more than once as many thoroughfares are now closed of and other closed by construction.

A great city to be a tourist!

A great city to be a tourist! The city streets are set out in a grid pattern so it is easy to find your way around. There are a good combination of cultural and natural attractions, e.g. art galleries, civic buildings, museums, beautiful parks and walks along the river. The public transport system is good, and tram travel within the CBD is free. Friendly locals and many good cafes and restaurants.

Live fish Aquarium was a good place to visit.

Live fish Aquarium was a good place to visit. So many beautiful penguins and was worth to visit. Melbourne Museum was great too. History about Australia and Aboriginal of Australia. Many restaurants are around CDB which is very convenient for tourists. The disadvantage is that most of the shopping malls closes at 5 pm from Sat to Wed Train services on weekends are not available if there is a maintenance repair work. This causes a lot of inconvenience and time consuming for the replacement of buses.

A perfect location for either venturing into the city or exploring other local suburbs by tram less than 100 metres from the door. Room was clean, comfortable and very roomy. Whilst other hotels may have more modern bathrooms we found the standard very good and good value for money. We have stayed here several times and would make it our go to place if exploring other parts of Melbourne outside of the CBD.

The location is highly convenient, with easy access to trams and Southern Cross Station. The views of Melbourne's CBD and the Yarra River are spectacular. The apartments are spacious, accommodating four adults comfortably, with comfortable beds and pillows. I highly recommend this accommodation and will certainly consider booking again on my next visit to Melbourne.

Such great value for money, a short 5 min walk to the closest tram into the heart of the CBD. Clean and comfortable apartment, decent size. Enjoyed the quiet and more relaxing feel of this hotel on the edge of the city. It’s a little gem, will definitely be back for future stays in Melbourne.
