United StatesThis place is iconic. Located on the Nullarbor Plain, this is a proper, working roadhouse with a regular traffic of road trains to prove it. It's also perfectly located for a night's rest traveling east-west across the country. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean (there's a bit of sand here and there but that can't be helped, it's a desert!). The Internet was very decent, considering how far away the place is, and it was great fun just to wander around the grounds and check out all the heritage interpretation. The restaurant and bar are well-stocked and the food was very good, even the vegetarian options held up. Beer was cold and the staff were helpful, if a bit inexperienced (mostly backpackers / work away young people). Overall, it was a special experience to stay on the Nullarbor Plain itself, highly recommended.
