Serene as the Swan
Sun-drenched and laid-back, Perth is simply a joy to be in. However, the West Australian capital does have tourist attractions, such as the Colonial-era mint, important in the country’s gold industry. East is the WACA, a must-see for cricket fans, and the city is also mad for Aussie Rules football.
The city center has the historic Government House and Supreme Court, both dwarfed by the ultra-modern skyscrapers a few streets behind. The best skyline view is from leafy King’s Park, near the War Memorial overlooking the Swan River below, named after its black swans. Across the river in Perth Zoo are more native animals including koalas, crocodiles and free-hopping kangaroos.
Boats to the zoo leave from the Barrack Street jetty by a sail-shaped bell tower. Other day trips from Perth include Rottnest Island and Fremantle, down the river in the opposite direction from Perth Airport.
The apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Perth are spread all over this fantastic city, interspersed with restaurants serving specialties such as western rock lobster and chili mussels. There are also a wealth of bars, many playing the indie music that the city is known for. Local brews from Swan Brewery and wines from the Swan Valley vineyards round off the evening.

Perth is a really nice city to visit. Easy to get to CBD from airport via train. Staff at the train stations were very friendly and helpful. The city is very clean and well presented to visitors. It is easy to walk to many sights, We enjoyed the parks and gardens. Free bus and ferry services were appreciated. Particularly enjoyed the Wildflower Festival in Kings Park. We were lucky to see the Terracotta Warriors at the Museum. Maritime Museum in Freemantle is a must visit. Northern beaches easy to access via Freemantle train.Guest review bySumner - 10.0

Everyone I asked for help if they were a local were very helpful and kind..Loved the Kings Park tours, including behind the scenes . I wished I had more time at New Norcia. The Terracotta Warriors exhibition was amazing, as was the Lester Art Prize at the Museum. Our visits to the Perth Mint and Kings Park were most enjoyable. We were recommended to stay at quest as we are here from an event for 4 days . On checking in staff were great . We went to our room and at first thought wow this is great, great view clean room . I then settled in on bed watching tv and realized I was being showered in black dust from the air con unit above the bed , we thought maybe it’s been cleaned recently and this just bit left over . It was happening on and off for a bit but on day two we decided to bring to attention of staff . They assured us it would be looked at that day while we were out . We returned home and it was worse . We again spoke to staff and were moved to another room . A “better “ room . We got to our new room and yes it was much bigger but far from better !!! We put our ice bricks in freezer and the freezer was on highest setting so our brick did not freeze , we had to buy ice for the day . The nice view I paid for is not a view of a building! The coffee table glass top is not secure and wobbles . Bathroom door doesn’t close properly. There no cutting board .
