Lots of Wineries with some really excellent wines.

Lots of Wineries with some really excellent wines. Disappointing that most wineries are charging $20 tasting fees (for 90ml of their wine at best) and a lot of the wines are cheaper through on-line sites rather than the cellar door. Some unique wines not available otherwise. The restaurants seem to fall into expensive ($120-$150/person set menu - book and pay ahead) or pub style. with no real middle ground. There is also a lack of transport in the area - so driving is really the only option and thus not tasting the wine :-(

If you are looking for great food, wine & nice people Pokolbin is the place for you. This is an area for all ages and you don't have to travel far to see everything. I do not drink alcohol so I can't say what I liked about the wine as I didn't drink any but you don't have to drink wine to have a great time in this area.

Pokolbin has a lot to offer- lots of quality wineries, chocolate shops, cheese and dairy products to sample. We discovered Winmark Winery this time which had a sculpture trail and art gallery attached to their tasting room. Definitely worth a visit to this site at Broke.

Beautiful country and open spaces to explore.

Beautiful country and open spaces to explore. So many varied activities to do from ballooning, golfing to horse riding and excellent winery restaurants both fine dining and casual in winery grounds. Must try Hungerford Hill winery cellar door and hatted Muse Restaurant next door. Area has concerts on the winery grounds, weddings, events etc. And of course tours, markets and dedicated local chocolate makers. Visit Sabour, who have amazing cakes for the sweet tooth and Petersons for bubbly. Many, many great wineries with exceptional views. Best of all, very easy to get around. Lots of information available of what's on offer, and maps. Visited many times and will continue to go back again and again.
