Tanunda has an amazing array of beautiful places to see, vineyards, shopping, markets etc and not to leave out the place where they film The Cook and the Chef which is a fantastic place to visit and spend time watching the turtles swim in the lake.
Tanunda is a great choice of places to stay, you can walk to some cellar doors and restaurants, cafes. It also has a number of shops and an info centre. It’s very central for all wineries to drive a short distance or be picked up for a tour.. we had a wine tasting and degustation at Z wines was delicious highly recommended. Lovely wine tasting at the Underground opposite Tanunda Cottages.
This was such a relaxing stay. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed .Jerry was very accommodating with a couple of special requests. We had amazing weather so got to use the pool and enjoyed the beautiful gardens and available activities. We are already planning our next visit.
Some lovely vineyards and cellar doors. It is just post covid so few things are still closed. We struggled to find somewhere to eat on a Monday most restaurants only open WED-SUN so keep that in mind...they have many big trucks throughout the Barossa and we love to walk to found the only way to have a nice calm walk was on the abandoned railway line . Everyone there was super friendly and helpful and of course the wines are FIRST class
Fabulous restaurants in Tanunda . Book accommodation within walking distance as the wine list is terrific. Wineries close by are well worth a visit and can range from tastings hosted in larger venues to a tasting in a winemakers shed ! Research ahead and book ahead so you don’t miss out.
Tanunda during spring was wonderful, very green and picturesque. Proud of our beautiful Barossa Valley and world-class historic wine region. The township caters for all one requires in a country community, great eateries, shops and a delightful base from which to travel afield to nearby townships and wineries. Menglers Hill is a must for a great bird’s eye view over the Valley and it’s spring colours and sweeping views of vineyards below. I love Seppeltsfield and the drive to and from it is spectacular with its exotic tree-lined entrance/exit. The family mausoleum perched high on the hill reminds me of an ancient Roman monument from a movie like “Gladiator” and is a perfect final resting place. We went to the new Calabria Winery and had a great wine tasting and platter there with great views over the Valley. It is a modern and well set out restaurant and tasting rooms which was packed out, so book in advance to avoid disappointment. The staff are excellent, knowledgeable and accommodating. We ate at the Tanunda Pub on the Sunday evening and it has been refurbished, is so much better than before and has the usual pub fare with some extras. The food and atmosphere is great. Check out the very beautiful backstreets which blend old and new housing and a glimpse of the past with vineyards scattered adjacent new houses. Walk around and enjoy the country atmosphere in Tanunda and you will be pleasantly surprised. The clothing, homewares and other goodies were great and housed excellent wares. Hats off to Tanunda and especially the old fashioned lolly shop with its flavors of yesteryear and today. Tanunda is a sweet confection.

Wendy was an amazing and very thoughtful host.... she left us provisions for breakfast and spoilt us with some lovely treats including a bottle of bubbles for my birthday. The location of the home was fantastic. It was close to all the lovely eateries and shopping in Tanunda with Foodland around the corner from us. We honestly felt that we were in our own home as it was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our 7 night stay.
It was situated very close to the Tanunda centre and we were able to get around so easily on the bikes that you can hire from reception. The staff were all exceptional and made the experience an enjoyable one. Particularly Kylie at reception who made sure that everything was seamless and convenient. She was wonderful to deal with and I could not fault her and the rest of the team one bit. A very well run facility. Thanks Kylie!!

And the breakfast supplies were fresh and more than enough with a few different options. Also, walking distance from Tanunda's city center.
