We went to Baku on a private family matter.

We went to Baku on a private family matter. It is a fascinating city with a mix of old and new. The old city is very interesting and well preserved. They are not fully geared to tourism sometimes getting around can be a challenge. English is spoken but Russian is more common. People are friendly. Getting to Baku from Manchester is gruelling especially given flight times we used Turkish Airlines via Istanbul: the airline itself was excellent planes were clean flights punctual and friendly staff. Next time we might consider going direct from Heathrow. Day trips from Baku look interesting but we didnt have time to take advantage of them.

I like the stay in Qusar, and Shahdaq Mountain.

I like the stay in Qusar, and Shahdaq Mountain. I like the hike in a snowy forest in Qusar. I like the cable car ride in Shahdaq mountain. and I love the food in La Quzu restaurant in Old City. I like the Bolt taxi when I travel around the city. When you rent a car and drive around, make sure to mind the speed limit as speed cameras are all over the place whether you are in the city or the countryside. I love the friendliness of the locals, they are always willing to help when you ask.

There are a lot to see in Baku.

There are a lot to see in Baku. Unfortunately, it was getting cold and rainy the time i was there, alongside with the bad traffic, I didn't really have the mood to go everywhere. There is still room to improve about the traffic in the fact that the traffic is slow. I encountered multiple cancellation while using the car hailing app. From one place to the next, it took almost an hour. I ended up visiting fewer places than planned because of this. I specially like the old city, museums and the restaurants. They really know how to retain the old architecture and highlight the heritage. Baku impresses me most with its carpets. The carpet exhibition in the Heydar Aliyev Center and the Carpet Museum are the must go. In generally, local people are very friendly. They always try their best to help, even though you don't see the smile on their face. Last thing to note is always try to use car hailing app. I had to flag down a taxi to the railway station in Ganja, The driver agreed AZN7 but ended up charging me AZN10. I took the photo of his car plate and he returned me the money. Even AZN7 is overcharged, which should be AZN3 according to the car hailing app. When I scheduled a cab to the Baku airport for the last day, the driver asked for an extra AZN20 for the toll on top of AZN, the fare shown on the app. I checked online that toll was supposed to be AZN1 and should be included in the fare. The driver immediately said the additional AZN20 was for the long journey and nobody would take me to the airport for only AZN10. I got him cancel the taxi ride and I immediately got another taxi through the app. The fare ended up to be AZN9.

It was my first stay at this hotel and it is highly recommended. I got complimentary upgrade to very cozy room with wonderful view at one of the most beautiful buildings in Baku. Not very close to old city but for me location was very convenient. Very friendly staff. Special thanks to reception during check in, i guess his name was Ilkin, he was very kind and helpful. Free parking at property. Very good breakfast with option to have it at restaurant or in room. Very big indoor pool and fitness center.

Nice and helpful staff. Clean bed. The hotel was quiet. There were no bugs or spiders. The carpets are not dirty, but old, there are stains. The hotel is not 4 stars, it is more of a boutique hotel, no stars. For breakfast there were sausages, cheese, eggs, yogurt, tea. The hotel is worth its price. Some expect 5 star quality for the price of a 1 star hotel. For the price, I would love to stay at this hotel. Location right in the heart of the city.

Lovely small hotel, closely located to an old city, breakfast like at home, served just for you - eggs with fresh vegetables. It’s street can be noisy at night, which is another side of being in the city centre, the rooms are not big, but ceiling is high, no lift (so not easy if you have suitcases), but staff is very helpful and friendly. All in all had a pleasant stay.

I strongly recommend this hotel. I have stayed in the warmest hotel in Baku, and the service is very good. The room is in traditional Azerbaijani style, and when I came back at night, I also brought me fruit plates. It was very thoughtful, and it was very quiet in the ancient city. I hope to stay at this hotel again next time in Baku
