FAQs about hotels in Sarajevo

A Cultural Oasis, Where East Meets West

Sarajevo could be described as a captivating oasis of European cities, where East meets West in an integration of diverse cultures and a fascinating history mixed with a fresh cosmopolitan and charismatic vibe.

A museum in itself, Sarajevo is a sightseeing and history lover’s haven from the numerous mosques, churches and synagogues, to historic landmarks such as Sarajevo War Tunnel and Latin Bridge. Afterwrads, you could wander through the Old Town, which is a world on its own.

Sarajevo’s cultural diversity means a large selection of local delicacies. Be sure to visit Sarajevo’s historic and cultural hub Baščaršija bazaar, an ancient trading place with cafés, restaurants, cosy bars, art, and loads of accommodation options.

Booking.com has a great range of apartments, hotels and hostels located in the heart of the city and near Sarajevo International Airport.

Sarajevo has warm and friendly people.

Sarajevo has warm and friendly people. It was a bigger city than I thought. The views of the city from Olympic ski site are amazing. Its quite cheap in Sarajevo compared to many other European cities. My short review doesnt sum up the many charms of this city which has come out the far side of the horrors of the 1990s. Its a very underrated city.

Sarajevo has a special beauty and I can write and tell a lot...

Sarajevo has a special beauty and I can write and tell a lot about it, but in short: Most tourist attractions are easily accessible without using transport, (if you use the tram the ticket costs 1.80 BAM, which is about 0.9 EUR) you only need to follow the river Miljačka, the attractions, museums, town hall are located along the river. The rest of the places you should visit are located in/around Baščaršija, and some on the way out of Sarajevo. Be sure to take the time to visit Vrelo Bosna (entrance fee 2 BAM) and enjoy walking or riding a python (costs 10 euros one way, but be sure to ask before getting on) through Velika Aleja. You can also take the cable car up to Trebevic from where you will have a nice view of Sarajevo, but you will also be able to see the bobsleigh tracks. Try the kebabs at Željo, have Bosnian burek for breakfast and don't miss drinking Bosnian coffee with lokum. Finally, drink water from Sebilj to return to Sarajevo again because there is still much to see and feel.

Sarajevo is an interesting city and I’m sure there was more to do/see than we had time to enjoy. Siege Tour by Funky Tours very worthwhile. Bazaar is interesting for a day - more than that and it’s just a repeat. Restaurant offerings limited to local cuisine - would have liked more variety. Too many smokers and too few places to eat where smoking was prohibited. City is walkable if not trying to take in the entirety of city. Car traffic crazy and driving chaotic - parking worse. It’s a city rich in history, the people are kind, welcoming and helpful. Prices very reasonable.

Full of (sad) history which has destroyed many of the older buildings, surrounded by beautiful mountains. It's pretty crowded as the city is jammed into a small valley. Lots of one way streets and very little parking. Lots of good food and friendly people, English spoken widely. Very affordable.
