Bruges is undoubtedly stunning, but they certainly know how to charge for the experience - everything and everywhere was extremely expensive. In many places it was difficult to pay in cash, which was a problem. Public toilets all charge a euro, so be prepared with some small change, but they are not of a very good standard. We love Bruges and have visited for a few years now.
We love Bruges and have visited for a few years now. Perfect fairytale place with cobbled streets and the smell of Belgian chocolate and waffles! It is very pretty any time of the year but especially at Christmas. I visit a lot of European cities. Even having fully researched, Bruges was better than what I expected. Bigger than what I expected. Bruges was a stop on the way back from Eastern Europe and it was far more than I expected. It was so interesting historically, architecturally and in so many other ways. Going for a boat trip across down is a must to get another perspective on the town. It's easy to walk around with so much to see and do.
