Host was exceptional. Extremely welcoming and accommodating. Even found room for us to keep our motorbikes over night. There was 6 of us in 2 rooms, the room sizes were great especially with motorcycle gear and that in the room we didn't feel we would struggle for space. Breakfast was good and with constant flow of coffee even though coffee machine was broken. Location is great.

Have been here so many times now, one of my favourite little towns, always a warm welcome by its folks, and never a bad meal in any restaurant. I mainly visit for the WW1 history which has plenty of within a few miles of the town.
One of the best trench experiences was at Sanctuary Hill just off the Menin Road, ignore the surly custodians of this piece of woodland with trenches kept up to how they were returned to the farmer owner after WWI. It was especially eerily quiet for us as we were the only people there, arriving at 4:15 and it closing at 5. Very evocative and chilling. Think twice about letting very young children look at the pictures in the viewers.
Stunning city with an incredible history. Extremely clean with no litter at all. Gorgeous buildings, restaurants and something to see around every corner. A trip to Ypres wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Menin Gate to see the last post, performed every night of the year, a truly moving tribute.
Nice town with a lot of history. We explored a couple of cemeteries and a WW1 bunker but could have spent at least another day visiting the various sights. The cemeteries were well worth visiting. The shear scale was something to behold and sombreing and the remembrance for those that lost their lives was tasteful and respectful.
Ypres is a lovely city, vibrant, historic & welcoming. Plenty to see, plenty of places to eat & drink ( especially Captain Cook Restaurant). At this moment in time though half of the Cloth Hall & all of the Menin Gate have scaffold up for restoration work.
The Menin Gate ‘Last Post’ 2 bugle players every night promptly at 8pm, is a must. So moving. Well organised, last post and wreath laying. Well worth a walk around the moated town approx 6kms. The architecture is very attractive. I didn’t have time to go to the Flanders Fields Museum, but have been before and it really is so informative.
