Bojentze is a place for those who seek the authentic Bulgarian village experience. If I were to choose between the nearby city of Gabrovo and Bojentze, I’d chose the lather. Since Gabrovo is only 15 minutes away by car. If you cannot stand the peaceful village you can always visit the near by Uzana which provides an amazing perpective, as well as the Humor or the Etno museum in Gabrovo.
Beautiful museum village surrounded by the green waves of hills and the Balkan mountains. Has to be seen. Amazing experience of 18 and 19 century architectire of the typical Bulgarian remote villages.
I went on a Public Holiday and found it far too busy so I returned on another day and really enjoyed the beautiful settlng of the village. A delight to walk around, plenty to see, but going up the hills can tire your legs!
Great place if you want to feel the authentic atmosphere of a small village from the time where Bulgaria was under Ottoman domination. Excellent food and drinks. Visitors should definitely taste Bulgarian salads made of fresh vegetables as well as some of the "grapes of the house(domestic rakia)" offered by most of the restaurants. We would strongly recommend to book a village guiding tours as there are very many interesting stories which might remain hidden otherwise. Hint:in order to feel the real spirit of the place book a room some of the old houses. There are 2 types of houses - private and owned by the municipality. Both options offer similar quality.
Great green and peaceful traditional village. I love everything about it except for two things. There are about a 100 or so properties and none of them are abandoned like many other Bulgarin villages. To have a house there has always been in a very high demand and the houses if you are lucky to ever get one are very much in demand and very expensive by Bulgarian market prices overall. For that reason mosthouses are owned by wealthy Bulgarians but they do not live here full time - you see many house that are locked for the greater part of the year and the village apreas very quite (also a positive thing). Also because of the immense popularity of the place there are many taverns and pubs. However, they feel a bit tacky compared to the house that surround them, the food was very uninspiring in the several places we tried and the service was just ok.
